Seems there is no love here for the STi pinks!

Did you also consider Eibach Pro's?

Where did you get that from? A fair few people upgrade to the STI pinks from stock, do a search and you'll see.

No, don't get me wrong I loved how low it was with the STI pinks in there, I just wanted springs that were a little firmer to compliment the other handling mods I was doing at the time. I had seen how the Teins looked on some of the cars at Phats so thats what made up my mind

What dampers are you using with the Tein S Techs?

I've sensed that whilst the STi pinks are a good upgrade from stock, they are a little harsh and ultimately there's better choices out there for both handling

I have an MY07 STI therefore it came with bilsteins and sti pinks stock.

What do you mean by harsh?

Can't speak with any first hand experience sorry. Just regurgating some comments I've read on this forum and others. Take any product and you'll find +ve and -ve views on it. Probably no more than just that.

Hey though... the question is... say I got the Wheelpower billies and ditched the springs that come with them, how do the STi pinks compare to the other choices out there? Yeah the STi pinks are probably fine if your car came with them (maybe some people never have the need to consider anything else), but given the choice would you choose them over Eibach's or others? One issue is cost. If you buy them from Subaru Australia they probably cost a bomb.

I've been in a car with coilovers (not mine), Eibach's (not mine), S Techs and STI pinks. Coilovers are the best option without a doubt but are very expensive compared to just getting springs. STI pinks and Eibachs will work out to around the same cost if someone's quote on here is correct, cos I know PHAT can get the STI pinks for similar last time I asked. However, used STI pinks you can pick up from me for $300 ;) S Techs are around $400-450 last time I checked I think, so are the cheapest option out of the three.

Best thing is for you to see a car with the springs you want in person, so you can see how it sits and maybe sit in the car for a drive to see how it feels. Going from STI pinks, the S Techs are obviously firmer but the car is a lot more predictable and feels more grounded. I also love the ride height, it's perfect for what I wanted, so no real reason for me to go the coilover route yet!

Great info, many thanks. Which coilovers?

I definately don't want to go low just for the hell of it. Main thing is to replace my current tired and old suspension. I'm not silly enough to line Subaru Australia's pockets with whatever they charge to replace stock with stock. Hence all these questions!

Am thinking to screw it and just get the KW V2 coilovers. Cost isn't really an issue. They are good value thesedays.

I am leaning towards the KW V2 coilovers. Been here before, ready to pull the trigger on those.

Did some research on top mounts. I want to replace my top mounts as well. The Spec B top mounts get a good wrap on the legacygt forum. Where does one get those from?

Hey guys... Was hoping for one more piece of info... pretty please...

I want to also replace my strut top mounts. The KW V2 coliovers dont come with their own and I have no appetite for using my existing 7 years old ones.

What then, just buy them from Subaru (= KYB's I guess)? Any sense in hunting down the Spec B ones that I've read about?

What's Wrong with using your stock ones? I doubt the top hats would actually wear that much in that time.

Don't buy them from Subaru, I wanted to get a spare set for my kw's and got quoted for quite a large number, in the $300+ range for a complete set of 4 I think.

Your best bet is to try wreckers or try getting them from overseas.

Ok! The deed is done. Ordered the WheelPower Bilsteins today and am in touch with Phat to get some of customised Tein S Tech springs. A lot cheaper than coilovers and probably perfectly ok for me. Yay!!!!

Courtesy of the Phat man I now have Bilsteins and Tein S Techs installed. Very good. So much more compliant and drivable than my shot to bits stock suspension. Thanks Michael.
