Replacing ignition coil on 99 Libert RX Wagon

Postby hcpe » Wed Sep 07, 2011 8:53 am

Hi all.
Last night the 4th terminal on the ignition coil of my 99 RX liberty failed. I am thinking of replacing it myself, as it seems like a reasonably simple operation. I haven't got much experience with messing with my car though, and wanted to know if anyone here has done this?
If so, are the any tips I should know before I do this, or should I just let someone with experience deal with it (though I am sick of paying to fix this car).
If anyone knows how to do this, I would love a quick breakdown of what I need to do.
Cheers.

piece of cake mate.

-unplug the plug leads from the coil (number them or remember which one goes where)
-unbolt it from the manifold
-unplug it from the wiring loom
--grab new one--
-plug it in
-bolt it down
-plug in the leads

done

Sweet, I was hoping it would be as simple as that.
Cheers for the reply. Anyone got a good place I can buy the new ignition coil from?
I'm in SA.
Thanks!

just hit up some wreckers mate.
they're not that common to fail electrically, but like yours, the housings get affected by the heat with time and can get brittle
