Hazard lights flashing when i lock the car

I've just got a Liberty gt 2004 and noticed that when i lock the car, around a minute later the hazard lights start flashing repeatedly for about 30 seconds then stop then start up again another minute later for 30 seconds or so. I think it may have something to do with the alarm system, anyone got any ideas to what might be wrong with it or have experienced similar issues? Any help would be awesome..

Yeah sounds like your alarm is going off but the siren has been disabled.

IMHO a good place to start is to check things like the shock sensor being mounted incorrectly or set too sensitive (check the manual for the alarm on how to check/set it), and the switches that tell it if the doors/boot/tailgate/bonnet are opened.

Any idea what the alarm system is?
I don't think that's a standard Subaru alarm. MY06 certainly doesn't have one.

Nah i wouldnt have a clue, i have taken it to my local subaru dealer and they have never seen anything like it. I was looking the other day and i did notice this device under the dash, im not sure what it is but i doubt its stock as it has been zip-tied on. Anyone have any ideas?

I would remove the entire system, and if you want an alarm, get a factory system fitted.

Very weird. Pry it off/cut the zip ties and see if there's a label or something on the back of it which might describe what it is - or provide a part number you can google.

I had the car for 4 months

I bought it off a Asian bloke who bought it off the Repos.
The repos had it cause the bloke diddnt pay his bills.

Now I'm not sure who strapped that thing onto the car but it sure as he'll wasn't me
