I've been looking at taking trim apart to see if it's just a cover plate or if it's one piece containing the electronics as well. It's proven to be a pain to remove and I don't want to risk breaking anything, anyone know how easily this peice comes out?

I'm keen to know as well, I've got these strange black marks on them that are plain weird and cannot be removed - are your marks the same?

Sounds similar but by the sound of things something has stripped the colour right off yours, Mine still has the silver but it looks like whatever liquid splashed on it has just faded the colour. I could live with it if it was a small area but it covers almost all of that plate.

The silver/plastic bit around the window switch is attached to the trim. I've not ever tried to remove that section and don't know if the wreckers sell them separately. When you remove the trim there is a plug that attaches to the window switch to operate the windows - I'm pretty sure the motor for the window is elsewhere though.
