Good Places to get suspension/brakes done.

Postby t.renshaw34 » Thu Aug 18, 2011 10:39 am

Hey guys, again im only new so trying to get as much info as i can.

I thought rather than making it about me.
we can all post places we know do good prices/service on getting your suspension and brakes done.

if you post what state followed by name and suburb that would probs be the best way.

im from SA and have got billes, DBA 4000's and some new pads to put in. but dont really know where to go to get them done.
SnJ wanted $600 to to put them in and i was like WOW.
any help would be great thanks.

This obviously won't help you in SA but to give you an idea of prices I was quoted from Russell at Subievolution:

Billies - $165
Brake pads and rotors - formal quote to come but I'm expecitng between $100 and $150 for that (he told me it would be similar to my short shifter install which was about $100).
I had my lower control arm bushes installed for $110 (considering a place like Pedders will charge you about $50 to press out the old ones and press in the new ones I thought this price was pretty reasonable too)

So $600 I think is a bit steep for billies and rotors + pads.

I have been going back to Russell for about 3-4 years though. His prices are reasonable, and the workmanship is top notch... and doesn't try to con you into doing anything you don't need done. He also let me hang around to watch the LCAs/short shifter/dump pipe installs. Will be trying to find a similar mechanic when I come back to Adelaide. S&J are always raved about but their prices have certainly been creeping up a bit I've noticed.

Edit: Why don't you ask Dropz from SA? I think he's said before he'd do cash jobs. Billies and rotors/pads could be done by him I'm sure and you could probably learn something along the way. If you need to machine the rear rotors before putting the new pads on just organize that wih a place first.

SnJ is going to do the whole lot for me for $450 including an allignment.
so an alignment alone here is $70. $380 isnt to bad really when ive got the money to spend.

all thats needed next is those shinny now CS9's :p.
counting down the sleeps till there here...

Yea I'm going to be sooo OCD about doing it lol. I'll put pics up when I'm done :). Just can't justify paying $150 a wheel to get painted. I'm looking for a good TMIC atm. Getting it done when I put my K&N intake on. Any ideas where to look?
Oh and how much did you say you where doing that middle quality set of wheels for?

I'd be taking Dropz up on his offer if you haven't already had it done by S&J :D ... Save $150 and put that towards some other mods!

Cheers Dropz,

Sweet. I'm only 15 mins from you down the hill :).
I'm just waiting on the billies to arrive. Probs another week.
Then I shall be in contact.
Have you got a mob number?
Also what days/time of day would best suit you?
I'm only at uni so I'm flexible :).
