Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

I already have got to the bottom of this, I called paul today to find out what the GO is.

He only uses Ecutek, if the OpenECU won't work, therefore he used the OpenECU on my car, which looking at it is more flexible to me and the tuning (IE get it tuned anywhere not just Ecutek dealers).

Too much detail to put up here best left for msn haha

Basically, he told me there is no way that the dyno can stuff your tune.

The car is tuned for the power to be safe, so on a hot day etc, it will detune to avoid failure etc.

He dynos the car in 3rd gear, Dyno Dynamics "Shootout 6" mode, spray of water on IC.

He states he uses the 6 mode for top mount IC cars, such as mine anyways.

He said that basically if I do it, as he has done, I should get the same or similar readings to him.

I will find out tomorrow.

My recollection of thirty minute conversation today, not gospel

Hmmm.. interesting...

Don't worry, I will definately get to the bottom of this and from my conversation with him today, sounds alittle different to what your stating.

Another thing, our cars shouldn't be run on Shoot Out 6 mode as these are for N/A cars such as the 3.0RB. This is what has me alittle concerned.

As long as your happy with yours Skooby then let it be.

Why would one use shootout mode 6 for a 4 cyclinder turbo? Isnt that for a 6 cyclinder NA?

SHOOT 4 (NA 4 Cylinder)
SHOOT 6 (NA 6 Cylinder)
SHOOT 8 (NA 8 Cylinder)
SHOOT 4F (TURBO,NOS,SUPERCHARGED 4 Cylinder)
SHOOT 6F (TURBO,NOS,SUPERCHARGED 6 Cylinder)
SHOOT 8F (TURBO,NOS,SUPERCHARGED 8 Cylinder)

Guys at the end of the day the dyno is a tool used as part of the tuning process, there will be differences in results from dyno to dyno and even the same dyno on the same day under some circumstances. People get far to hung up about dyno figures rather than the actual result being improved perfromance and drivability.

For those that have had their car tuned do you notice the difference day to day?

Got my car dynod today.

Got the dyno set perfect, temp sensor in the pod, bonnet shut, to best simulate road conditions. I got 150KW atw.

Not the 167 I was quoted before, but good still great as far as I am concerned. My car never felt like the 167 I was told hence why I got it redone.

The day to day is great, so much more fun than the stock 110 or so atw.

My car has a safe tune, for day to day. I could give two shits about max KW, but I want to get over 200+ until I am happy

Been talking to ALOT of ppl and ALOT of information has been passed around surrounding this issue.

What Dave (SleeperGT) said is correct, regardless of the numbers, my car after the tune and still now feels completely different from BEFORE I had the tune.

I got 157kw atw from the Pulse Racing, when I put it on the IS Dyno, it read 130kw atm.

Never the less.... the difference inside the car is very noticeable and I enjoy it.

So you're saying it de-tunes itself? Do you have ECUTek or OpenECU?

Trieu's got OpenECU like me, but the dyno that we went on, is being setup different/wrong, than what it should be.

My figures differed as well...but, Good ol Dave is correct, end of the day the dyno is a tuning tool.

Before tune my car was pulling about 160kw on both Pulse Racings and IS Motorsports dyno. After the tune Pulse had the car at 193kw and IS at 175kw. The car definately feels stronger from mid to top range, but has issues with the occasional stuttering.

Occasional stuttering? Was talking to Skooby and your not the only one getting this...

I am getting mine re-checked next time I visit Pulse.

Do you know whether the STi ECU can be tuned using OpenECU? I have the STi ECU, got it fitted to my non STi 04 GT by Subaru (not worth it btw), and have always wondered what the tuning options are for it. Perhaps to get one of Paul's tunes I'd need to get the standard ECU put back in.
