Hey everyone,
Been awhile since Ive been around, probably a sign that the car has been performing as it should, perfectly. Ive got a strange one for you though. About four months ago the front left (what sounds like the front left) began to make the softest noise when I went into a right hand corner and the left had a load put onto it. It has progressively been getting worse and worse and now its at the point where I feel its becoming dangerous. The noise is more of a rubbing, kind of metallic grind, the faster I go, the louder it is... But that isnt to say going softly fixes anything. The noise is also there when I am accelerating say, up a hill.. I can hear a metallic grind and squeak, softly, from the front...
Heres the clincher, Ive just replaced the front wheel bearing on that side. Took it for a drive and there was absoloutely no change. The CV Joints are fine also. I took the car to Pedders to get it checked over and they came back saying that it was definitely the front left, and that 150 (excluding part) would solve the problem. Working in the industry I picked up a Koyo, got my Mechanic mate to come over with his press and busted out the spanners... No avail.
Ive been doing a bit of reading, and I keep coming across posts saying that even though there was a noise from the front left, it was infact the front right bearing that was causing the trouble? Is this possible? With no load? Even a few posts saying that, a noise from the front actually ended up being from the rear? Surely it would be more distinctive?
Any help, any light, any experience would be fantastic.
Many Thanks, Hope you are all travelling well.
Jacob.
