Working on Penga's car tonight..

Hopefully it will be done by tomorrow night..

3x pass of UC+ DAS6 Pro and Suburf pad. Still got few small deeper scratch and swirl but won't do it more than that because only 90-100 microns I played with that paint.

What do you mean by 3 passes? As in only 3 overlaps withthe DA or 3 try's with UC.

3 times I try to use UC. Every 3-5 minutes, then stop. Then try again 3-5 minutes, then stop. and one more.

Hard to explain but yeah it's something like that..

Why not use 203S Menz, or If you don't have menzerna range then megs 105 and finish that down on a polishing pad, instead of multiple goes with UC?

Another interesting detail:

Wash:

Image

Clay barring:

Image

Accessing the paint (Major damage to drivers side panels due to hitting a bush and average condition all over)

Image

Image

Image

Image

After:

Image

You can just see the deep cuts still but have been hidden well and the deep ones that went through to undercoat have been carefully touched up and polished flat

Image

Worst panel:

After:

Image

Entire process took a bit over a day

Products used:

Autobrite foam
Duragloss wash
Mint clay bar (Fine)
Powergloss on particular panels that also needed light wet-sanding
203S on tangerine LC pad
85RD/106FF on white/black LC
60:40 IPA wipe
Blackfire sealant
Perl Tyre dressing

180SX with some problems all round and quite thin paint on the roof (being solid black, no metallic is shows everything)

Washing:

Image

Image

Clay barring (The almost flat rear glass panel was the worst)

Image

The roof:

Image

Measured at 120-145um on the roof, in comparison to 180um for the rest of the body so care was taken.

Image

Accessing the paint:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Starting on the roof:

2 passes with Menzerna 85Rd on black finessing pad resulted in a lot clearer, flatter paint but didn't cut into the paint at all.

50/50

Image

Moving onto the bonnet:

203S with tangerine LC pad and finishing with 106FF on black finessing pad

Image

Image

The rest of the car:

Image

Image

And finished!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Time taken 7 hours

Products Used:
Wolfgang foam
Duragloss wash
Concours blue clay bar
dodo juice clay lube
Menzerna 85Rd,106ff,203s
Lake country pads tangerine hydrotech, white, black polishing
IPA cleanse 20:80
Blackfire wet diamond sealant
Poorboys APC on plastics
Perl tyre shine as well as coated wheels arches

Had a good weekend doing a nice EVO 7

After the usual foam, and thorough wash:

Image

Image

Image

2 Stage paint decontamination: (claybar & Iron decontamination)

Image

Image

Before taping up the car rubbers and trim some hand polishing was done were machine couldn't reach.

Image

Image

Measured a very healthy thick paint ranging from 270-348um over the body

Image

Getting ready for machine polishing:

Image

Starting with the headlights:

203S on tangerine 4" Hydrotech LC pad then finished with 106ff on tangerine 4" Hydrotech LC pad
IPA wipe ready to be sealed later with opticoat to prevent oxidisation.

Image

Image

Image

Now onto the paint:

Now some after shots

Have done a few other cars in the meantime:

The EVO sold the day after the detail.
