eBay STI Oil Caps

Hey all,
I've just got what appears to be a 100% genuine STI oil cap from eBay here.

Surprisingly they are only $70 instead of the usual $300 charged by Subaru Aust. Anyhow it came in very legitimate looking Subaru Japan packaging with all the right part no's and Japanese instructions. Before anyone asks, I've got nothing to do with the seller, I just happened to buy one on the chance it was ok. It just needs the oil filler cap gasket/o-ring to complete the install. It appears legit, so thought I'd share it with those of you who like STI bits. Anyway 3 left atm.....

Been chasing one of these for a while actually just wasn't willing to pay a fortune for it!! :D

Just brought one!! Maybe the o-ring from the standard oil cap can be used?

Even if it's fake that's a pretty bling cap I like it! If I didn't have a zero sports one already I'd get that one!

How exactly does this improve the performance of the engine? (not oil caps but rather a metal STi oil cap over the regular yellow plastic one)

I think he was being sarcastic when he said 5% power gains but as far as I know having better oil and radiator caps DOES improve efficiency somehow.

IMHO the oil cap is just for show, the STI magnesium version feels about the same weight as the std yellow plastic cap. Other than weight reduction an oil cap just needs to cover the filler hole. However the STI radiator cap is rated to withstand up to 1.3 bar internal pressure, so your coolant can get a lot hotter (like a summer track day!) than the standard radiator cap set to explode at 1.1 bar. However every STI logo makes any Subi go that little bit quicker :D

Good find! Looks genuine.

I just went to buy this, however i havnt ever really used ebay that much in the past. I clicked on deposit money via bank transfer and then saw the seller wanted payment via paypal. Is there anyway to go back and change it?
