I've got a Mcintosh in a 2.0 GT MY04.

Looks like this could be a goer then for only $39.95! Might have to splash out and do it, you chuck it in without too many hiccups?

$300!?! Ouch, I would definitely be wanting some *sucky sucky* after that instal

I don't have a ipod/iphone so I needed the 3.5mm aux...

But that one in your link looks good, a little pricy maybe, but cheaper then a whole new unit!!!!

Just installed it today, EXACT same unit I purchased from Ipod world but this one didn't come with a 3.5mm jack, so tried with workmates I-Phone and worked a treat! bought a 3.5mm cable from autobarn and works perfectly!

But like most people here I have noticed a dip in sound level, trying a better quality jack later to see if it makes any difference....

Relatively Cheap Aux in / Ipod in for McIntosh!

Postby SuiCid3 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 8:37 pm

I ordered from them as well but they cancelled the sale and refunded my money. They said that the batch they currently have were faulty or something and that they were canceling all orders until the new batch arrived.

For those of you who have the FSL-21, do you have your steering wheel buttons working as well?

Too dark now to pull things apart.. and if it's not possible then I know not to bother. :)

Edit: The harness for the steering wheel controls piggy backs into the FSL-21. :D

Edit 2: I've got an unused Clarion EA1251B for sale if anyone is interested. :)

Hi Guys

So what's the consensus on Aux in for Pre-facelift McIntosh?

FSL-21
Axxess AIP-CL-ID
Or the Clarion EA1251B
Or any other?
Maybe this any of the products here?:
http://www.anycarlink.com/Product.asp

Seems that everyone has had some success with at least one of these - except the one from ebay maybe :?

Axxess AIP-CL-ID is perfect in my MY04 GT. Provides both iPod and 3.5mm connectors. The iPod connector charges as well.

I had the anycar installed on the weekend. Ipod & Bluetooth work really well however couldn't get the 3.5mm jack to play music from my HTC Desire HD. Steering wheel controls work perfectly with the ipod

Hmmmm interesting, probably my fault :-/ I'm returning mine and was going to ask for a replacement...

But maybe I'll just ask for the refund instead then!

@AndrewCowley - thanks Andrew can you control the ipod from the head unit too? If so, do you need to create those 5 playlists?

@B8ze - can I ask where you purchased it and how much you paid, I can't see any sellers here in aus. Also, which model did you buy, there's ones with Bluetooth now I think. I have an ipod as well as a HTC desire, so curious why the 3.5mm jack doesn't work, does it work when u plug it in to the headphone jack of the ipod? Does this anycar product plug into the cenet plug too, or some other way?

Thanks for the info

The Axxess AIP-CL-ID means you have to control your iPod using iPod itself. The upside is that you don't have to create fixed playlists as is the case with the demented EA1251B.

Personally I think head unit control is a dopey idea. The iPod interface is perfect. Why even attempt to replicate it?

My cousin bought 2 from this guy on trademe new zealand

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 697631.htm

The model i have has the bluetooth. As to why the the 3.5mm jack wouldn't work with the Desire not sure maybe something to do with the file system on the phone it was too cold on Saturday night to fiddle around with it. But i could get it to connect through the bluetooth and play audio which plays pretty clear 95% of the time however it chews the crap out of the battery so it has to be charging all the time and when put it on or off charge it loses connection. But the ipod works sweet steering controls work fine & sound quality is excellent :)

There not cheap though i think about $180+ for the bluetooth models then the shipping on top

Thanks Matt and Andrew, I think I will just get the axess one, cause it seems it will do all I really need and the price is very reasonable.

Thx again for the replies
Cheers
