Rota Gravel Fitting??

okies, not such good news.
the wheels are a tad big (18x8.5, +44)

HELP? I want to keep them, but think i'll have to wait for a swap to get 8's.

What have others done?

what tyres did you fit? 225/40/18?

im thinking of getting a set of rota gravels 18x8.5 and fitting 215/45/18. i have been told they will be fine but will stretch abit.
only wheeldude sells 18x8 which is $899 for the wheels but delivery to Sydney comes to about $1350.00

my only problem is i have a budget. i have 215/45/18 potenzas with like 90% tread so i dont need new tires.
so i was told if i get 18x8 i can just fit my 215/40/18 on them

will 44+ fit perfectly on the lib or should i get offset +48?

18x8.5 +45 works on Billy's/tein s-techs.
although rubber is 225/45.

no guard rolling was needed, although it would be a good idea (in my case anyway).

Exactly what i wanted to hear, I have the same suspension set up.
So i guess you had the occasional scrubbing?
Do you think 215's would have fitted better?

could possibly go 215/40, that will reduce the rolling diameter by around 30mm (theoretical) or 15mm on each side. i think this will be just enough to clear the guard (not sure about plastic guard lip protector thingi) and by going 215 would help, but only by 10mm (again theoretical) and not all tyre brands stretch that well. in saying that though, 225 for me is fine i guess, if anything i should have gone 225/40, scrubbage is if i take heavy bastards, but a car loaded with sub 65kg/pp asians i have only light scrub when turning.

Righto,just thought id share y recent experience with Rota Gravels, through some perseverance i was able to swap my 18x8.5 gravel rotas for 18x8.
Got them fitted with 225/40/18.
I think the 18x8.5 would have looked nice, however I wanted the 8's if i could as they fit without any exta costs.


For the 18x8s 215/40/80, 225/40/18, 225/45/18 and 235/40/18 would fit. 225 looks the best to me, the wider the cheaper.
I prob would have gone 235 if needed but they may have rubbed a little.

If you get the 18x8.5's get a 225/40/18 and stretch it on. You will also need some camber at the font, and the rear should be alright, if concerned get the guards rolled.

4mm difference between them,
so the 18x8.5 has a 44+
and the 18x8 has a 48+
Im pretty sure these are the only two fitments the rota gravels were cast in (dont quote me on that though)

So the 8.5 is approx 9.5 at the outsidelip and the 8 is about 9. leaving .5 inches diff. so approx 6mm wider per side, thus poking out 6 + 4 mm on the outside, the 1 cm would give it a more hellaflush look and would require some camber and guard adjustment. I like wide rims and think the 8.5s would look pretty good, however im not a fan of odd tyre wear and would rather spend more on tyres than guard modification.

I do think I will lower my ride to fill the arches a little more, however as it is it looks excellent, but superb is the goal.

ive heard 215/45/18 will fit perfectly on 18x8 48+ without any gaurd rolling?
can anyone confirm this?
