Small update... decided on a JDM red stitch gear knob (STi version) to match the rest of the interior.
Bought a digital radio for a bargain $80 (next cheapest price I found was $170 odd at Ryda)... from Clive Peeter's on run out + extra 20% off on the weekend. Got intimate with the dremel but for the life of me couldn't make it sit nicely in the cubby despite a right angled aux cable. Therefore decided to pull the arm rest console out and have run the aux cable to the arm rest console. Everything out of sight and neater - I rarely change stations, but with the device in the centre console can still fairly easily change stations at traffic lights etc.

STi short shifter install next week. Then brakes or dump pipe depending on condition of the brakes!

After seeing Phan's pics, i was on the blower to PHAT GT and ordered one of these DAMD D steering wheel.

Took me around 30-45mns to install, pretty easy/straighy forward.

Replied to your pm ... but the impression I got originally was that it was ever so slightly more to the left than the original wheel. But I've checked and double checked with the car parked straight in the garage and the wheels do point straight when the steering wheel is in the neutral/straight position. Haven't had an alignment since though but I'll pay some more attention to it tomorrow on the drive to work and report back.

Was able to adjust the wheel with moving the airbag out the way so i could move the wheel and retighten the nut until i was dead centre. I was around 3 teeth out..

That's great to hear... you'll love it... I'm still enjoying mine - drove the wife's accord euro the other day and the steering wheel felt like I was handling a boat!

Phan have you ever driven a golf Mk V R32?

That's an interesting question... I haven't but for a long time I've wanted to but at the time of buying the lib the budget couldn't stretch towards that. Have only seen/heard them. Have test driven the GTI (Mk V) but it didn't offer anything over the liberty GT.

Why do you ask? I have lurked on the watercooled forums with a similar username if you've seen me there

Actually I just got the chance to drive my mates R32 Mk V and was wondering if by any chance you could compare the DAMD steering wheel to the R32, very nice wheel.

Unfortunately can't compare but for the few weeks that I've had it, I do love the DAMD... of course it doesn't add any power to the car, but it's something you touch and use with every commute so from that point of view I think it's worth it for the $400 or so premium over a second hand wheel or a retrim.

Small update.

Have had STi short shifter installed. I also bought Cruisn's HKS Legamax exhausts. Although these were designed for the wagon, they don't stick out much at all on the sedan - only a smidgen more than the stock exhausts and don't hang any lower. No problems with driveway clearance. His FS pics with them on the sedan convinced me to take the plunge. At idle and low rpm with a stock system, it is quieter than the stock exhaust, but a great note when you give it a bootful. With the help of a mate who had car ramps, we had them on in less than 20 mins. Very happy with the purchase. And yes Phat, I can finally make that dump pipe order very soon after taking advantage of this FS item first - sorry to keep delaying!

Have also dynmatted the front doors with the help of the DIYs on this forum. Plan on the back doors when I get the time too. For QLDers audioexpress sell the bulk pack for about the same cost as the ebay prices when delivery is factored in.

I'll most likely go panel filter + dump pipe, and remove the intake. With the addition of dynamat, I'll have a quiet cabin at low rpms and cruising, but a good note to listen to on acceleration. I don't think I want any more power mods than the the dump pipe... am seeking better low down response than a beast of a machine like Gambit's... at this stage anyway!

Thanks Gambit. I'm very happy with it so far. I fear falling down the slippery slope of power mods! Am keeping an eye on your thread to see what you decide on the brakes side of things.

They look really good on a sedan with the black lower section of the bar.

Id add an upgraded tmic to your plans to round them out.

I'm thinking of dynamat too because there is way too much noise getting into the cabin (just general outside noise, not even from the engine/exhaust)!

Thanks Mark and Jerome - love both of your cars. I agree - the mufflers look pretty sweet on the sedan with the black lower section. Have been flat out at work otherwise would have posted this on Friday night .

The dynamat is time consuming... I'm pretty slow with these things but each front door took me about 2 hours - a lot of it is the surface prep though with the degreaser... The second door was quicker after I learnt from all the mistakes of the first door! As many people have recommended though, there certainly is a big difference with just the front doors done. Enough of a difference that I might put the back doors into the can't be arsed category! Buuuuut... have bought a bulk pack so feel I should use most of it up.

Hmmm ... tmic... i know what usually comes after that though - much more costly power mods!
