MY10 LGT - STI Lip Spoiler and Strut Brace (bday pressie)

Postby SYM » Sat May 28, 2011 1:49 pm

Just picked up my LGT this pmorning after its first service, and including the installation of a few things I bought for myself (minor bday pressie)

I always wanted to get the STI strut brace, but wasn't quite convinced on the STI Lip Spoiler.... in the end, I went with it (and I'm glad I did!)... its subtle, but still looks cool

Looks great mate. I am a bit biased though (my wagon being the same colour and all) lol

Thanks Garbo - the lip seems to "round out" the front end, and what I especially like is that its subtlety. Wasn't cheap, but I'm very happy with the results!

Is your rear quarter panel fixed up yet?

Good stuff mate. Has the strut bar made a noticeable difference???

She is going in for surgery on the 22nd of June and won't be back for 2 weeks :-( Looking forward to 2 weeks of driving the mother-in-laws PoS Commodore.

I would have thought the lip extended further forwards like the Gen4 ones. (probably not a good thing though I cracked my lip on a concrete gutter the other day due to this)

But nonetheless it improves the appearance of your car a lot! Just need to bring down the ride height a bit.

@Garbo - it took me a while to notice, but after today (with some 'spirited' driving), you sort of notice the difference more.... it feels less lean/roll and the car sits flatter through corners.

@teK - yeah I looked at a few GenIV Lips before making up my mind, and yes it doesnt stick out as far - and agree its a good thing as it would be a nightmare (or very slow) when entering steep driveways! Agree that lowering would a lot better, but the rational/financial side of my brain (the one that pays the insurance) is putting forward a stronger argument atm!

Heres a couple more pics taken at Homebush stadium:

Looks fantastic. Gen5 SLOWLY growing on me.

Saw a NICE black Gen5 GT sedan the other day with same grille, front lip and had STI 18"s like mine and looked HORN.

Charcoal the shit out of your wheels and yours will look hawt.

Glad you guys approve of the new looks, given the inherently polarising looks of the GenV Lib.

Charcoal suggestion sounds tempting, or another alternative would be to get some charcoal STI wheels (next bday pressie?)

I think I've seen the black GenV GT Sedan around - it did look like the lip did managed to get a few kisses in of a gutter or two :)

Fingers crossed I'm careful enough to avoid it happening to me

Nice mods, happy birthday LOL

Personally, I'd black out the chrome around the windows, put nice 20inch dark gunmetal grey similar to advan connoisseurs (sti rims will be too small, needs 19's at least), drop it low with either coilovers or springs!
