my boot is empty? just has the carpeted chunk of thin wood or whatever it is, it it completely removable? (easily)... and then under that the spare etc

So annoying... yes it sounds exactly like a coin tapping on the rear window. It sounds like it may be from the window itself or from the metal bars that's holding the speakers. I may have to get someone to lie in the boot and tell me where the sounds coming from!!!

Start with the back seat. Safer and easier. Better if you have someone else drive it too as you know what to listen for.

Reminds me of a mate of mine who had this persistent rattle in his car, somewhere towards the rear, drove him nuts for 6 months.

Turns out I had left a beer bottle cap in the inner door handle of the back passenger door, don't know how he didn't find it but I sat in the back a while later and found it

hi All... i think i have the exact same problem..

sounds like a coin tapping the window/glass crackling

i've put padding around the brake light where it would hit the glass... still no luck

any 3.0RB owners have the solution to this? Only seems to happen in the cold... (or not when it's extremely hot)

Hey, I have this same issue with my MY07 Liberty Sedan. I have a feeling it's the brake light in the rear spoiler. It's come loose so it's rattling around - have yet to fix it up by I reckon this is my issue at least.

Same issue here mate, you aren't going insane.
Still yet to find the problem. I have lubed everything in the boot (tension bars, etc) and found it made it less frequent, but its still there.
