High fuel consumption issue

Postby Mr Cali » Tue May 31, 2011 9:17 pm

Hi, it seems as though I have a problem with fuel consumption. I only get around 360-380km per tank, usually about 55+ liters when I fill up.
I only use 98 octane fuel and probably do 80% peak hour traffic driving.
I have replace the AF (yellow) sensor and that has fixed my miss on idle but that's about it.
There is no engine/ecu light coming on and the car is still very smooth and accelerates nicely. It has only done about 85k on the clock

What else could it be? I think I read somewhere about blocked cats causing very high fuel consumption, could this be the reason and is there a way I could check this without taking the exhaust apart?

For the driving conditions (peak hour) id say thats a pretty normal figure. I get similar figures around town.

Same for me 12-14 around town, even higher if it's stupid city traffic and I'm 'impatient'. Normally it's 10.6 combined, right on factory spec.

I use about 10.2L/100km and I have a dump pipe and some other intake stuff with no tune, and I do drive in a bit of peak hour also.

It's cos they are fully hectic and so much faster…

That and they run very rich from stock and are tuned more aggressively than a 2.5. Also 2.0 pulling all that weight doesn't bode well for fuel consumption!

And, Kieran your intake mods will be making your car run leaner, hence less fuel as well.
