Advice - MY07 vs MY08 Liberty STI

Postby pharcyde » Mon May 30, 2011 11:56 am

After advice on the two models - aside from aesthetic changes, is there much to warrant a ~$6k price difference from what I can see on carsales?

I do like the 08 grille, and assume that is available for the 07 as an aftermarket bolt on?

thanks for any info

Main differences that I know of are:

1. Grille (08 gets the honeycomb - yes available aftermarket / from Subaru if you wish to change it)
2. Air vents to the rear on 08 (where the cupholders are on the 07)
3. Power passenger seat on 08

Not sure about the rims. There has been mention of rolled tips on the exhaust on the 08s - but I am not sure if this is the case.

There were 300 07s (60 of which were wagons) and 250 08s.

Thanks, you are right with some of the changes, I found this over the weekend on the perth wrx forum, but nothing so far to justify the big $ difference

MY07
- Grille: standard chrome arrow
- Calipers: gold Brembo's
- Exhaust: slash cut tips
- Wheels: option of silver or charcoal Enkei's
- Interior: all leather
- Strut Brace: broad bar
- Instrument Cluster: standard
- Sill Plates: standard
- Shift Knob: standard
- Drivers Seat is electronically adjustable

MY08
- Grille: JDM Spec B honeycomb
- Calipers: black Brembo's
- Exhaust: rolled tips
- Wheels: so far only silver Enkei's
- Interior: is it leather trim with velour inserts?
- Strut Brace: round bar
- Instrument Cluster: STi logo
- Sill Plates: STi logo
- Shift Knob: STi logo
- Both Front Seats are electronically adjustable

Great info there thanks.

I guess the other difference is that the 08 was offered in Pearl White

I've heard all the cool people have MY08s. That should be enough to convince you!

To clarify the seating, the MY08s are leather with Alcantara inserts. I love it, they don't get slippery/freezing/uber hot/etc in a Vic winter or a Qld summer.

(That's probably in the articles linked above but they're blocked for me here  )

Is it an MY07? or a 2007 MY08?

I could well be wrong, although there doesn't seem to be many silver MY07's?

I didn't think they released two versions of the 07, there was just one STI release for each year wasn't there? 2006, 2007 and 2008

one extra thing to note as well which may or may not effect pricing, only 300 MY07 were built and 250 MY08 were built

MY07 came in silver or black
MY08 came in most colours
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty
