On a somewhat serious note though, has the tuner made suggestions yet or are you thinking throwing more injectors at it will solve all problems? 1000cc+ injectors do seem rather large for the job at hand? What power levels are you/they expecting from this setup?

Yeah they have suggested an Autronic, larger MAF or Map sensor, larger injectors, more fuel pumps, on E85 it will make significantly more power.
Flow matched injectors such as the ID1000s or 2000's are extremely stable at low pulsewidths, thats why they are the bees knees at the moment.
I have been considering a VIpec V88 over the Autronic because of the DBW functionality, AVCS control, and onboard knock control, plus there is a plug in harness adaptor for the Liberty in the form of the 06-07 WRX or STI 2.5lt adaptor thats available, whilst with the Autronic you pay extra for a knock board even with the SM4.
This means i will have greater resolution at idle to control the larger injectors on pump 98 moreso than E85, plus dual switchable maps, plus i can integrate a Zeitronic E85 content analyser for a perhaps true flex fuel application down the track, i will also have a way to control a primary or secondary fuel pump with a dedicated aux output.

Do you ever think back that the Headers you brought might have had slightly higher running costs than you first thought.

That's a pretty serious set of items to purchase. Can HPF even tune the ECU you want? After-all, an ECU's only as good as the tuner.

They tune link which vipec is based off, but yet to ask. It's all the same IMO

why would you want to spend 4K+ on an aftermarket ECU to fix a problem that isn't there??? what HPF does not know or is not telling you or may not understand is no WRX/STI harness will work in your liberty without alot of work. Also by using an aftermarket ECU you will loose half your dash functions due to the cambus system used in yor liberty

Now you ask your self..... What do i know , or how do i know this.......Well , i personally know Ray Hall and one of the main guys behind the research on the install side of things and have asked these questions before and i can tell you now, the answers where inconclusive

i can tell you from experience that your factory ECU is more than capable of running the setup in your Liberty if the setup was right. now all because HPF is a big workshop does not mean they got it right as many of these style of shops just pump out there kits and very seldom have the ablity to think outside the box to solve a problem instead just upsell you on a fix that you dont need because they cant solve your problem

anyway i sincerely wish you all the best sorting out the problems at hand and getting your car back on the road so you can enjoy and forget about the pain you have been through

Thanks Michael appreciate the info I will try and persist with the stock ecu for the timebeing on pump fuel should not be an issue, on E85 it's a whole other shooting match. If I were to go a vipec I would move to another workshop anyhow as the distributor in Vic is JPC.

Did some research and the pin outs between the 06-07 WRX and STI is the same as 08 Libs:

Vipec pinout for WRX STI 06-07 2.5 on the left and
Legacy GT Spec B 08 on the right
Puts that to rest... But your right unsure of other canbus functions that maybe lost.

Oh yeah I have been in a world of pain over this build, can't wait till it's all over and I get it back, it would not of gone to HPF at all had it not been for the fact my engine builder is not yet up to speed on open source tuning. He himself is a Wolf tuner. Decided against that as initially was locked into ecutek and hpf being an ex ecutek dealer and now open source tuning shop. Anyhow working with some guys in the states to figure out a MAF hack for our canbus aus 08 libs, I will figure it out myself if I have to. Anyway priority is iD2000s and double pumpers.

....and this is with the maxed out AFM and Injector protective setup.

Remember, you've basically doubled the cars power at the wheels. So be careful in the wet.

Here you go boys, It was running 20psi of boost, i am yet to run a log with RR but will try and do it soon, have the PLX SM-AFR serial to USB hack so will be able to log AFR, and double check duty cycle.
There is a lot more in it. However the fuel setup is holding it back, so next on the shopping list are a set of ID2000's and install of the double pumpers as well as a 4inch KStech MAF, and then i can do a full power run and a bit more boost on pump 98 and then afterwards will look into getting a Zeitronics E85 content analyser and start mucking about with E85, as it was always my intent to run E85. Will continue and persist with the stock ECU
