Car just kicked up a CEL tonight on the way to work at 100kph with the cruise control on. CEL light on, cruise and [S] mode light flashing. Still on when i just went to check the car now.

Had the PHAT DP fitted and tune done last Tuesday. There seems to be a air rushing noise on WOT to me sounds like a leaking gasket ever since i picked up the car.Im not sure if its the extra noise from the dump pipe or not. I pulled the intercooler off on the weekend to investigate to see if any seals where folded over and all seemed normal. Also checked all the bolts on the dump pipe for tightness and all seems to be good. Im curious as to why when i had the car dyno it made such a low torque figure (254nm) compared to other guys with libertys in perth that have had them tuned by ASG with the same mods as i have.

Have to give ASG a call in the morning to see why the CEL has come on. Id imagine it would be something to do with the hi flow cat making more exhaust gases and the parameters for the O2 sensor need adjusting.

I had a tune done to avoid this sort of thing but have still ended up with the same problem. A bit annoying but hopefully i can get it sorted by the guys at ASG.

it not your dump pipe...... alot of member have fitted this same dump and even full TBE and did have this issue with the cel light.

Alot of R&D went into the making of your dump pipe and flow testing was completed to ensure the right cat was selected in order that the dump pipe could be fitted without having to get a tune.

My car spent almost a year without a tune running a full 3" tbe and no cel lights.

you need to get your tuner to get the code of the fault, its was common for minor boost spike to be triggered with cars after being tuned.

regarding the rushing air noise, check your BOV has been bolted down and the return hoses is correctly secured.

FYI the phat dump pipes are mild steel and ceramic coated, not stainless unless he made a 1 off for you?

Had the CEL code cleared this afternoon. Sean at ASG is a top bloke and told me to bring the car up straight away.

The code was something to do with the catalytic converter, code P0420. After clearing the fault he plugged into the car and adjusted the parameters of the O2 sensor so this doesnt occur again.

Back to happiness now!!

Now to decide where to go next with the car!! After talking with Sean at ASG the next move might be some sort of aftermarket top mount intercooler and the grimmspeed 3 port solonoid and a bit of dyno adjustment again. The intercooler will proberly be a good move in Perth with it always being pretty warm over here just need to decide on which brand to go with.

Brought an AVO TMIC yesterday from AVO and last week brought a Grimmspeed 3 Port Solenoid for better boost management.

Once all this arrives ill fit the top mount myself and back to ASG for fitting of the solenoid and another tickle on the dyno, interesting to see how it goes as i believe the stock cooler is a heap of rubbish!! The difference when driving the car during the day and at night at the moment is worlds apart so hopefully the AVO TMIC will work better during the day.

The reason i went with the AVO because it suits my application. Im only running stock turbo and a very conservative tune. It was more a safety net than anything else. After the cooler and the solenoid im not planning on any more engine mods as im trying to keep fuel ecomony reasonable as the car is my everyday driver. I know there are better options on the market but i liked the OEM look of the AVO and want to try and keep the car as stock looking as possible. Also couple of guys over in Perth are using the AVO and are pretty happy with it and hopefully i will be too otherwise you might see another post in the for sale section!!!

Also having a bit of trouble with the Vent Boost Gauge i brought from the US. The product itself is fantastic, really looks the goods when its all lit up and matchs up with the colours of the dash aswell. The problem im having is after i have installed the gauge, tapped off the vaccum line, run the power for the unit off a fuse tap, the car throws up a CEL light when i go to start the car and test it. I go to drive the car to see if the gauge is reading boost and the car makes no boost what so ever. I know the no boost issue is usually caused by a vaccum leak but im 100% certain there is no vaccum leak what so ever. I have secured all connections with cable ties and carefully ran the vaccum line into the cabin. Really starting to annoy me know as i have done the install twice and it kicks up the CEL light but once i put back everything to how it was before the gauge install the car runs fine and the CEL clears after a few starts.

I have brought a cheap code reader from ebay and im planning to do the install of the gauge again maybe with a different t-piece and different vaccum line. If the car kicks up a CEL again atleast i can read it and find out whats happening.

Hopefully ill have some feedback on the gauge if i can get it to work without causing problems to the car!! Also will post some pics of the TMIC install when i have recieved and fitted it. Sorry about the long post guys just need to get it all out!!!!

What line are you using to tap into for the gauge? Also where is the power coming from?

The power, according to the instructions comes off the IG2 fuse using an add a fuse adaptor.

The line that is tapped is the one that comes off the factory BOV. The line is a black plastic line with an inside diameter of roughly 3-5mm, ive attached some photos from the instructions below.

Maybe try using power from a lighter socket and see if that works. As for not reading positive pressure if you have an air compressor gently spray air into the gauge and check that it works, could be a faulty gauge. or blow into it

Blow into it or use a tyre pump (hand/foot operated) and even then at a low pressure. A compressor is going to deliver air at anywhere from 4 to 8 bar (50-120 psi). Don't want you damaging the pressure transducer in the gauge.

AVO TMIC arrived last Friday, so today i fitted it to the car. Install was quite easy, my only tip is to start all the bolts by hand first and tighten it all up once all the bolts are started into there threads. Engine cover required a bit of triming on the top and bottom but not a lot. If you follow the instructions provided by AVO step by step it should be easy. Below is some pics with it fitted onto the car.

Car is booked back in at ASG on 1st June to have the Grimmspeed 3 port solenoid tuned on the dyno, looking forward to the results with the intercooler and solenoid.

Ive had the car tuned before i installed TMIC. Going back to have it adjusted with the TMIC installed. Turbo spool is a little better is all i can really notice, havent driven it that much yet, will have a better idea after tonight.

Oh the AVO is way better than the OEM piece of crap!! I definately noticed it when i was driving home from work this morning when it was nice and cold heaps better response!!

Will definately keep you posted about the 3 port laurie, next wed its all happening should be interesting!!

Hey Guys,

Another update as of today!!

Installed the Grimmspeed 3 Port Solenoid yesterday. Easiest piece of kit to install and just connects straight to the factory harness. The instructions for the install are on You Tube done by Grimmspeed so if you follow this video you cant muck it up!!! The solenoid requires a tune after install as the Wastegate duty cycle needs to be dropped by 30% according to the instructions otherwise you will overboost and be on the road to an expensive engine rebuild if you dont!!

Now the exciting part!! Had the car back as All Star Garage this morning for another tickle on the dyno since the original Verso tune. Mods as of now are PHAT DP, AVO TMIC & Grimmspeed 3 Port Solenoid. Definitely interesting/weird/exciting results were produced!!

Power was down to 186hp from the original dyno figure of 205hp. Sean tells me this was proberly due to it being a rainy day with more humidity in the air, so the figure was off but doesn't really matter. The good part is, torque was up 40nm bring it to nearly 300nm which is fantastic. Its proberly 100nm less than a manual with the same mods but this is due to the fact that with an auto you need to be gentle with it on the dyno as you dont wanna load up the torque converter too much and kill the gearbox!!

Now the bum dyno!!! The car has been totally transformed after fitting the TMIC and the 3 port solenoid. There is definitely way more power under the foot and the car pulls hard with full boost (16 psi) from 2750rpm pretty much right through til 5500-6000 rpm. Even though there was a loss of 20hp, driving the car feels like its 20hp more powerful and the power is way more usable low down and in the mid range. The boost comes on harder and really snaps you back in the seat and the whole front end of the car lifting up on acceleration.

Im extremely happy with the results and for $135 for the Grimmspeed and 200-300 bucks worth of tuning this device can do wonders for the driveablity of your car and adjustment of the turbo dynamics. I would definately recommend this product to anyone who wants the boost there turbo puts out to be used in a more "street style" rev range. Well impressed!!

Also received Ecudatascan yesterday, excellent piece of gear to monitor everything going on under the hood. Reads all of the ECU parameters (66 of them i think) and also can be used as a gps, fm transmitter and a few other things. Havent had much time to play around with it but from what i can tell i love it!!

Will post pic/dyno graphs in the next few days when i get a chance to take some!!
