Put it this way, if anyone can tell you they perceive any tangible difference in their pants-dyno, ... :assassin:

Basically just a piece of plastic for placebo effect. In theory it is meant to direct more air into your intake funnel.

agreed on the placebo effect call. im not going to bother now anyway. seems a bit of overkill when i already have a pipe running from my resonator hole. surely im getting enough cool air for now.

Was at Phat's on Saturday and he explained it to me.

Placebo effect or not, what he said is true. It's a functioning part and works well for it's function, which is to funnel the air into the intake.

Obviously you won't notice a difference but it doesn't hurt to have it!

I understand the theory behind it, however think about it - you have a car which runs forced induction, it will pull air in. Your airbox isn't the restriction, so it will just pull more air in as required. Even more so if you have removed your resonator.

It will have more of an effect on a naturally aspirated engine.

"more of an effect" means it still has an effect on a turbo, like I said it's a small difference but still a difference

Put it this way, it's about as functional as your front lip spoiler or your bootlid spoiler.

In theory* it is meant to help and it's tried and proven* to make an increase.

* Tests done in a simulated environment. yourmileagemayvary

In practical use I definitely found front lip spoiler to reduce lift at high speeds. Steering felt much less vague.

Here was I thinking the front lip spoiler was to give me an excuse to look cool while I go over speed humps at an angle?

You don't need a front lip to look cool going over speed humps on an angle. Stock Civics and Commodores do it too. And we all know how cool they are. ;)

the cooler the air goin into ur engine the better, force fed or not, for every 3 degrees in cooler air temp u gain 1 kw @ flywheel, 9 degrees cooler = 3 kw gain, y do u think cars go harder in winter and @ night! both my cars fly in colder temps, but on a hot 40 degree summer's day my car runs shite!
cold air intake, air guide, water spray, anything u can do 2 reduce intake temp is absolutley beneficial!

That's good and all but how does an air guide cool the intake temps? Oh it doesn't.

Get's air from outside the car instead of sucking it from engine bay?
