Coolant drain plug on GEN4 2.5i engine block?

Postby GT1 » Sun May 15, 2011 11:19 am

Does the GEN4 2.5i have a coolant drain plug on the engine block?

If it does could you tell me where to locate it on the engine block.

Thanks.

I've found the drain plug on the radiator but can't seem to find one on the engine block.

There is no drain plug on the block. To fully drain the coolant take the thermostat out and replace the o-ring if it was leaking.

Note: Ensure when refitting the thermostat the bleed valve is at the top of the thermostat.
Built not bought, it's a way of life.

#14 in this pic will drain the coolant from the block.

But as said above, it's alot easier to just drop the bottom hose/thermostat - plus for that drain in the block, you need an 8mm (I *think*) allen key socket jiggera thing (that's the technical term...).

Thanks! Did you get this diagram from the Liberty service manual? If you did what page is it on?

I'm trying to work out what part of the engine block this diagram is referring to.

It is referring to the shortblock.

The RH side (drivers side)

It's a plug into the coolant gallery that surrounds the cylinder .
