Am a big fan of the Gen III RX's and currently own 2. Really didn't like my previous 2litre MY05 GT, but hope to get into a turbo Gen IV again (but the 2.5litre this time) as I miss the forced induction performance.

Yeah, I know it sounds funny - in some ways the MY05 2litre GT in stock form was pretty disappointing in my humble opinion. Back then the 3.0RB got the superior suspension option. So the GT was an odd mix - quick in a straight line from standstill and overtaking, but laggy in most other areas (anything up to 40kmh in 2nd gear was a joke ie city driving). Peak torque advertised was no where near the reality shown on the dyno let alone real world driving - 330nm @ 2400rpm - no chance (my S4 on the other hand - you knew the figures matched the driving experience ie 400nm @ 1800rpm). Electronic throttle is not my cup of tea either. I find the Gen III RX's to be a hell of lot more connected / cohesive despite the massive power deficit. Sold the GT to my in-laws so I still drive it, and I can't say I like getting into it. Thankfully the newer 2.5T GT's addressed some of these issues (though hilariously despite being a more environmentally acceptable Green friendly engine / tune, they use more petrol, are heavier and are slower - at least it's got the 6spd ratios and better in-gear response than the old 2.0litre around town). Anyway I'm rambling, I'm sure much of this has been discussed on these boards already.

Penga - thanks for the heads-up, much appreciated - it's not showing up on their website but I'll give them a call. There's also one on carpoint / carsales, private sale but there are some issues with that one.

Hi Penga - yeah after pearl white, I don't think it's as good as the Gen III Brilliant white, but it's still my favourite colour on offer. My S4 was black, would rather not do that again, too high maintenance for a family car. Rang Brighton Holden, but no luck, they must have sold it.
As for the 69 Mustang big blocks - they're a great looking and sounding car, quick in a straight line, but handle like a poo on a stick. Braking performance is an abomination. All in all good fun. Mind you... fuel consumption is around 26L / 100km from the carbie 7litre V8.

Update! just sold one of my RX's and have moved to a MY07 GT Sti.

whats the subaru cluster gauges u talk off?

and how much and where u looking at getting them for. and do u know what's involved with he install, i've found the subaru sti usa cluster for the liberty, and also in japan, just the prices are very different, like $600 difference

It's the Subaru Sti Turbo Gauge Pack that's available for 2005MY onwards - H0010AG000

I've always liked having a boost gauge in my turbo cars - good for trouble shooting.

I've read the install / operation manual but I'll leave it an auto electrician / Subaru to do.

Ive seen it advertised on Japanese and American sites - from memory the US source was cheaper.
Have asked if my local Subaru dealer can get it in and at what price (they are looking into it and will call back next week), but won't hold my breath.

yes like you i'm very much wanting a oil pressure gauge also as well as boost and oil temp and oil temp all good for safty when flogging ones car
