Unless things have changed in recent times, I didn't think you could 'unECUTek' an ECUTek-ed ECU? If you can, then that's been a LONG time coming!

this is what all (well almost all) ECUTek dealer what you to beleave but it is far from the truth. the ECUTek program can be removed at anytime and it has allways been this way. But as you know the UNSCRUPULOUS ECUTek has trained the dealers to tell you this in fear of losing market share to the free open source guys . Eg; MRT's babble

Yeah your right, I am kind of relieved in a way, i was always planning on going open source tune. Now i can log my runs myself now etc etc.

Whilst I agree with the marketting comment (ECUTek is a well oiled machine). My comments had come from people trying to rework the ECU's after ECUTek and killing them in the process. An issue only seen with ECUTek (and APR for those into EU cars) modified ECU's.

Yeah I broke the plastic retaining clips, so was easier just to bolt it down instead . Good spot out of that photo though

He had to replace the clips with hi tensile bolts to ensure the engine cover stayed on!
Otherwise the motor might suck it in and chew it up

Almost close enough, but not quite..

Long story short, had to pull the engine out, remove and refit cams
The pain and the cost of it hurts too much...

Oh Gambit, truly sorry mate.
Unfortunately I know exactly how you feel, but try not to sweat it too much. All your frustrations will be the most distant memories when you kick it over and drive it for the 1st time.
As far as money goes, well, we all mod and mods cost, and you can't take it with you when you leave this life.
When they go wrong they always go big, and you can be sure it'll happen again. But modifying is too much fun, especialy with the amount your pooring into your 'sleeper'! Just think of the amount of uber expensive sports cars you're going to blow the doors off & the look on their faces when you slow to let them catch up and see your 'standard' lib.
Sorry, I've forgotten, is it a wagon or sedan? I like to leave a bowling hat on my rear parcel tray, and the amount of young rexy & other sports car drivers that get suprised by on old man keeping up with them or driving away from them. I'm a shit driver but i'm not the worst, so I like to do a bit of 'sleeper' stuff too
