gearbox bushings- help!

Postby -Enflix » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:50 pm

Hey guys,

I've noticed the changes on my '98 Bilstein are getting a bit sloppy, and I think the bushings are in need of a change, so the help I'm requesting is twofold;

1 - Do you guys have any trusted/recommended websites/shops in the Sydney area that you could throw my way, where I could find the right bushings for a 98 Liberty, and also;

2 - How would I go about changing them. I've had a look around the net and haven't really found any clear, helpful instructions understandable to a virtually mechanically illiterate 17 year old :( haha.

any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

You want Shifter linkage bushings.
Upper Bushes (under the gear boot) part number is 35035AC000 and you need 2 of them.
Lower Bushes (under the car in the knuckle/uni) part number is 35035KA030 and you need 2 of them - you can only replace 2 out of the 4 bushes due to it being welded.

If you want to go all out, buy this http://entra.com.au/store.php?view=prod ... category=4 and then either of these http://entra.com.au/store.php?view=prod ... category=4 OR http://entra.com.au/store.php?view=prod ... category=4 - email Entra and ask what the widths's are of those bushes, then measure your linkage (the one under the gear boot) and order them.

Instructions - http://turninconcepts.com/instructions/ ... index.html - not your car, but gives you an idea.

Thanks so much, Sheppo, really appriciate your help :)

much cheaper fix than i thought it would be. Will probably go with the Entra parts because I dont really like the stock bushings - much too spongy and they wear fast (contacted the previous owner, he said he'd replaced them at 125,000kms, and im now at around 160k).

Will have to go out to the car tomorrow and measure it all out.. Its raining cats and dogs here at the moment, and I dont fancy moving the car out of the garage.. then laying down in a puddle haha.

No worries.

I double checked at those instructions, and you don't have to drop the crossmember.
And take note of the torque specs - they are not very tight and if you do them up too tight, the shift binds up and feels really ordinary.

It is a good time to do the shifter bushes if you want a really firm shifter too - http://entra.com.au/store.php?view=prod ... category=3
Maybe a short shifter while your going?..
Just email Nick at Entra and see what deal he'll do for all the stuff you want.
