LIBERTY GT10 Wagon Macintosh Head Unit & Amp Upgrade\Remove

Postby GT-Gen5-09 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:57 am

Hi,
Got a GT 2010 Wagan on the way, ( currently have GT 2009 Sedan - hail damaged ) and really dissapointed in the Mac System and even the Sat Nav and overall sound.

Greatly appreciate everyones help, and guides, and photos and info, on how to do it all, and what to do.

-Sat nav over ride - will any stores do this? As i dont have the time.
-Macintosh Stereo upgrade, can it be upgraded, can additional options in the menus be unlocked, can it be easily removed and replaced with a system that fits ( same shape etc ).
-Can the existing amp be utilised, or is it best to remove amp and replace? Also the cabling running to the amp is unfamiliar to me, so what do i do?? Please help
-Is it worth replacing the speakers?
-Is it worth replacing the subwoofer? And is the subbie in a good postion? space wise?
-Where do i start i guess?

Thanks

-Sat nav over ride - will any stores do this? As i dont have the time. - Nope
-Macintosh Stereo upgrade, can it be upgraded, can additional options in the menus be unlocked, can it be easily removed and replaced with a system that fits ( same shape etc ). - Yep, look into the replacement bezel on japanparts.com. that way you can install whatever aftermarket HU you want. The only way you can unlock additional features on the move, I assume this is what you mean, is to earth the e-brake input (I can help you out with this).
-Can the existing amp be utilised, or is it best to remove amp and replace? Also the cabling running to the amp is unfamiliar to me, so what do i do?? Please help - Yes you can, but it would be easier to replace it with something aftrermarket.
-Is it worth replacing the speakers? - Yes. With addition of dynamat
-Is it worth replacing the subwoofer? And is the subbie in a good postion? space wise? - Yes. Yes. ?
-Where do i start i guess? - At the beginning.

Firstly how much are you willing to spend? And does that include installation?

-Sat nav over ride - nope

-Macintosh Stereo upgrade, can it be upgraded, can additional options in the menus be unlocked, can it be easily removed and replaced with a system that fits ( same shape etc ). Just get a processor.

-Can the existing amp be utilised, or is it best to remove amp and replace? Also the cabling running to the amp is unfamiliar to me, so what do i do?? Please help. Depends on your budget. IMO stock amps are always underpowered.

-Is it worth replacing the speakers? Hell yeah!! also sound deadening WILL help..
-Is it worth replacing the subwoofer? Always worth with an aftermarket system :)

-Where do i start i guess? Ask yourself what would be the ideal budget? Remember, the budget is only a guild... Installation is everything, gear is only second to the install.
