Hi all,

I'm new here, and I don't have a Liberty (yet) but I'm very keen to get one pretty soon, they look like awesome cars. Would be looking at a ~MY07 3.0R-B.
One thing I want/need, is to have iPod audio coming from an iPod Nano that would likely live in the glove box, to have song info and be able to control it from the head unit.
I don't know, but I'm thinking I probably don't need to go replacing all of the factory audio as it might be too much hassle *just* to get iPod audio.

I saw this posted a couple of pages back: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/prod ... ts_id=1479
Is this something anyone's used? Does this work in the australian Liberty's ?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for this forum. Lots of useful info here!!

Question.

With these Axxess AIP-CL-ID iPod® And 3.5mm Aux - For Clarion for example, does it come in the normal headphone jack rather than the ipod jack?

and has anyone installed or had one of these installed? audio quality?

They are supposed to

The I got one from the last batch that were on sale and when I received it, there was no 3.5mm (otherwise known as 'headphone') jack on the unit.

When it got sent back, I was given a refund as they realised the whole batch was faulty and couldn't send me a replacement.

Not sure if they've released a new batch...gave up on the idea...was going to use it as a part of an elaborate car PC install with a touch screen where the top storage cubby was...then realised the $5k was better spent on a holiday to Europe :)

In general, based on reading simliar posts and going off a few AUX in plugs on other cars, there is a noticable sound level drop using a 3.5mm jack input. Clarity is usually top notch but yer, there is a volume drop
Now that I'm in North America, I'm greatly concerned about raised pick-up trucks and owners of wedge shaped vehicles. Seriously, not only do you have to be concerned about one hitting you in an accident, they stand a good chance of driving over you at the same time!

Oops, sorry I meant to say that they are supposed to come with BOTH

Not sure if there is a unit that only has the 3.5mm jack

So.. after reading all these pages, will the Axxess ipod adapter work on my Gen IV 2004 GT (Mcintosh) or nope? :)

and anyone else try it with an iphone 4 to see if it charges?
Back to Subaru again.. think I would have learnt my lesson the first time round!

I've bought (or ordered at this stage) the cable I put in the link above, and I'll keep people posted with how it goes.

The way I see it if an Ea1251 works so will this.

Hey Jaz, did the Clarion CCA iPod interface work for you? It sounds like it provides full iPod integration with the McIntosh which is what I'm looking for.

Cheers, Nick.

The short answer is no. I suspect I got a dud though. Im still having Autobarn chase up Clarion for me. That reminds me: I will contact them myself.

Thanks for the reply, Jaz. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it and hope the replacement cable does the trick. Seems like interfacing iPods to head units is one troublesome area! I'm beginning to think just using the RCA jack and controlling everything through the iPod isn't such a bad option after all! Still, I'll be interested to see what it's like once you get the CCA cable operating. I'll watch the other thread. Good luck!

I spoke to PhatGT, and almost organised an auxillary cable for in the console but backed out as it didn't give me control from the h/u and thus the steering wheel.

The factory auxillary, while at a lower volume, works well if you're happy to control direct from your mp3 device, whichever you use.

Well I've bit the bullet and bought a AIP-CL-ID cable off eBay (seller: nibproducts).

Can anyone provide some instructions for removing the stereo (or installing the cable) for an MY05 Legacy sedan (manual)?

Cheers,
Eddie

First instruction would probably be to search. It has been covered more than a few times on here.
