Brake Lights not working

Postby snaza » Wed Feb 23, 2011 3:50 pm

Hi,

My myo4 GT wagon's brake lights are not working. the tail light are working fine so it seems strange as they are the same bulb. Maybe i'm crazy but i'm sure its simple but i cant work it out. I've check fuses and bulbs etc. The brake light on the back window works fine but thats separate and on a different fuse.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Aaron

The last time I replaced the brake light bulbs they weren't dual filament??? They were a large wedge style globe.

Must have been the Supercrap that we went to, but they didn't stock that size! (Ringwood). Luckily Autobarn was 30m up the road they had plenty.

It's physically the same globe but there are two filaments - one which activates when you turn on the lights (low brightness) and one which is for the brake lights (high brightness).

Slight resurrection of this thread.

I need to replace my brake lights, so I should be looking for the t-20 bulbs right? Any particular brand or place to buy them?

Pre facelift: tail lights and brake lights are separate globes, taillight is at the *top* of the light and brake light is at the *bottom*. Large wedge single filament. **possibly the other way around, I forget.

Post facelift: they are the same globe. large wedge dual filament

/sorted.

Globes are all pretty much the same.

Narva are probably the most common brand and good quality, if you don't want to get genuine globes. Bursons, Repco, Supercheap, Autopro, Autobahn, Bunnings etc etc etc etc. Hell, I've seen globes in supermarkets and used them with no faults.

Dropz, thanks for your input. I just picked up a couple of Phillips bulbs today.

You're too kind Leo. I went to Autobarn and bought a pair of Phillips bulbs.
Thanks for the offer Leo. I also bought some Phillips bulbs for the high beams (as per your suggestion).

Thanks heaps again for the HID's and your help. +1 Leo!

Bumping an ancient thread for a bit of advice here. I noticed the brake light was out on our 2008 wagon the other day, so went to replace the globe with a W21/5W T20 dual filament one from Supercheap. SCA brand I think.

The problem was, if I pushed the globe into the base, it wasn't locking in firmly and would just fall out. So I had to put a LOT of pressure on it to lock it into place, but then I cracked the base of the new globe and little glass pieces crumbled off and then the bulb failed :?

I don't understand why it's so hard to push these in. Has anyone had similar experience with these globes? Mine look just like this.
