Hi all,

FYI on the cables I have made up I have left an extra piece of heat shrink loose on the cable. The heat shrink is used at the green plug end, when you slide the pin into the green plug there may be a little bit of conductor exposed at the end so I've left the heat shrink so you can insulate the cable a bit better just in case. I'll also include in the envelope a colour print out of the walk through from the subaru outback forum.

Cheers,
Garbo

Haha thanks mate.

If anyone has any problems with the leads, i.e. the leads aren't long enough or whatever, I will keep a couple spares with me and make adjustments as required.

I have written up all the measurements at home in case there is added interest and I need to make up a second run of the leads.

Cheers,
Phil.

Awesome new, good luck with the install. FYI, I found it much... and I mean MUCH easier to do the install from the passenger seat as that is the side the famous green plug is on. Slide it all the way forward and all the way up and it makes life much simpler. Also, you shouldn't even need to unplug anything, you should be able to just slide the pin straight in.

Any dramas, please let me know.

Hey bud,

Just seeing if you got around to installing the cable???

On a separate topic, does anyone know of a work around to disable the "I Agree'' notice coming up every time you start the car?

I spent a bit of time looking into this on the internets last year - it looks like it's in the firmware and there is no way to disable it.

I'll be hooking up the cable over the weekend. :)

Done!

Thanks Phil! The cable was perfect - easy to push it in and could feel it engage the pin firmly.

My passengers will be forever grateful.

Thankyou!

No dice! I couldn't utilise the hack cable in the genIV as the Green plug has no free pins or space for new pins. [*pics attached]
It seems even although the units physically look identical the wiring and connectors vary.
I did however manage to execute plan B and install a hidden rocker switch to ground out the e-brake sensor which allows me full functionality while in motion.
I do wish I could've used Garbo's neat little cable though :(

So I guess if anyone pops up in need of one of Garbo's hacks, I have a spare to pass on (unless of course I buy a genV anytime soon)... :D
