Roof Rack Rails

Postby Robbks » Tue Feb 08, 2011 8:27 am

Received my new 3.0RB wagon yesterday and sfter giving it a wash, i noticed the plastic covers around the roof-rack rails are a different colour.
The car is Urban Grey, but the plastic covers/ rails are the more Silver Colour.
Anyone else seen this, or have my rail covers been swapped at some point in time..?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the rails are the same colour (silver) no matter what colour the car is.

hmmm, might get them colour coded
they may look fine on a car that is a completely different colour, but on one that is a different silver, they just look out of place

EDIT:
after a quick image search.. you are definitely correct.
silver rails no matter what colour it is

What's wrong with the matte silver rails? I think they look good.

At least the wagons get proper mount points. Still don't understand why they don't put them on the sedans. :angry2:

Yeah, bad. Got a few minor scratches on my roof, from carelessness and not cleaning the rubber pads properly...

Hi there

Given the liberty wagon has the same body shape as the outback, I would expect that the outback roof rail assembly can also be installed onto the liberty wagon?

I'm seriously considering this "mod" as I think it would add a nice touch to the liberty wagon (which has a rather flat roofline).

I've left a message with my local subaru service centre, but has anyone seen (or heard of) anyone that has done this particular mod?

I was drooling over the stuff from this website, when I came across the outback roof rails

Liberty rails are not as big as Outback.
More streamlined is the word I'm looking for.

Correct!

Oh, any if you paint them, don't like it and want to return them to silver - good luck with finding the code for the color. Subi Aust could not tell me the code... And according to a couple of panel shops, it's not the same as the silver cars either... :) No biggy, but a while ago I wanted to paint my mirrors scalps to match it.

Cheers
