Shift and handbrake boots

Hey guys,

My handbrake leather boot has been 'unglued' by the previous owner, as to how they did it I have no idea, but it got me thinking, i don't have leather seats...so maybe i could replace it with cloth. And may aswell do the gear stick while im at it. I was looking at japan parts and found the zero sports shifter boot for the auto trans but can't find anything similar for mt or the handbrake. Anyone have any ideas?

personally,
i'd just have a custom one made by an interior/ furniture trimmer.
then you can pick the exact size, style, texture, fabric you like
complimentary coloured stitching, etc
even get embossed or embroided logo's

I'd stock with leather in those areas. As long as you take care of them, they will wear much better then cloth etc.

For the shift boots, there are a number of aftermarket options out of Japan or just stick to the OE Subaru gear.

PS - To get things custom made & embossed (If your feeling fancy / different) is not a cheap exercise. Especially locally... Also remember that you need to use specific automotive leather which is generally harder wearing (& thicker) & is also UV treated. If your lucky, since you're looking at doing small parts, you maybe able to pick up off cuts of leather nice & cheap but of course you will be restricted to what is available & may have imperfections - Which is generally the case with off cuts... Trust me, I work in the leather industry.

surely quite common oem, Subaru must stock them, or check japanparts and get mick to bring them in?

I got my Handbrake one from redline. Used a bit too much Araldite and now it doesn't quite sit in perfectly

I got some alcantra (well, fake alcantra) for the shift boot and handbrake from Redline abit over a year ago, no wear and tear on them at all.

Carbon stuff is great at covering scratches. its actually fine when you look at it in the car! camera makes it trippy looking! Got the boots in carbon fiber affect material to match. leather/suede retrim next month on seats with red stitching to match. Should liven up the interior a bit

You can select all the different combinations of fabrics and which trims you want to replace etc, and it works out the price automatically. I went for the Alcantara (replica) shift and handbrake boots. Very happy with them they have not faded or worn or come apart after year and half.
