Yep - that's the one. One transmission place I visited said "it passes through the radiator". To me it looks completely separate, not even hoses pass through the radiator. Even so a lot of heat would be getting transmitted through the radiator regardless.

It's separate from what I remember. The lines pass next to the radiator.

I have seen extra external tranny coolers added in series with existing ones to add cooling capacity. If there is the space, I would leave existing unit (esp if its integrated in the radiator), and splice another cooler in series wherever its easiest. It will need some more ATF to fill it, but this will increase the oil available to pick up the heat and move it to the cooler.
