MOMO Steering Wheel

Postby YoungBlood » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:19 am

I'm sure this is probably one of the most asked for WTB items on here but I'll giv it a shot seeing as I'm new.

Wanting to but a MOMO steering wheel w/airbag to suit a MY02 Liberty RX. If anyone has one or knows good leads as to where one can be bought from it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks All.

It is behind the wheel but if my hazy memory of my parents' Outback serves me rightly, it is attached to the gear behind the face of the wheel if you know what I mean (turns with the wheel).

Hey mate..they sometimes pop up in rexnet, ozliberty and ozfoz..so check them out.

Best bet would be to find a wrx steering wheel then incorporate your old cruise stick into the new wheel. Heres a great diy on how to do it. http://ozfoz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=54

I did this to my car a while ago now. I think i bought a 2001 STi wheel with the red stitching.

The cruise control is attached to the steering wheel and on the wheel i got it didnt have the mount points for the cruise control. So i made a brcket to which i screwed the cruise control and then i jammed/wedged the bracket and cruise control in. dodgy i know but it works.

The horn doesnt work aswell on that side of the wheel now but the horn still works.

Looks Xmas bro.. and the pedals to go with it.

Definitely going to keep an eye out for one now. What sort of bracket was it that you made? Anything special?

Just make sure you get a wheel from the same year range. GenIII was 99-03 and wheels from earlier or later cars will have different airbag plugs. You don't want to go cutting airbag wires as you will be inviting premature operation. People will tell you it's no problem I did it in my car and it works fine. That's all well and good but talk to any professional and they will advise against it.

Same year range as in within Liberty? Can't use a WRX wheel?

I'm wanting to make a factory style cruise for a B4 I'm looking at buying. I had hoped be have been able to pinch the whole system from an RX or similar and install behind a WRX wheel which already have the spaces.

Alternatives? Stick the system behind the factory B4 wheel?

(I know this is an old thread but closest to what I'm looking for)
