Easy Access 12v Constant under steering wheel

Postby ngn33r » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:17 am

Hey guys,

Just quickly, where would I be able to easily find and tap off constant 12V source, located around fuse box area, under steering wheel.

Am doing Jaycar auto windows wind up kit installtion tomorrow, (and there is no constant 12V in the drivers door) will hopefully post photos.

Thanks,

In all my cars I have installed a dedicated, constant power distribution block/ cable in the cabin to attach constant power for all extra accessories/ stereo, etc
some 4ga or 8ga cable and an inline fuse direct from the battery.

There are a number of fuses that run outside the control of the ignition. The main power wire in the ignition is a white cable on the 6 pin plug on the ignition barrel. That cable is on a 50A relay btw (currently your windows are on a 15A relay which is on a 50A relay)

Sounds like travel advice for those visiting Thailand.

Hehehe, how Oz is that!

Taking a gander at how that Japanese guys at Subaru did things, not happy with it so on Australia day lines up to install a kit, probably doing it in his shed wearing thongs and beer close at hand as the temparatures were over 30 8)

Love it, pure GOLD :D

Hope it went well mate!
Now that I'm in North America, I'm greatly concerned about raised pick-up trucks and owners of wedge shaped vehicles. Seriously, not only do you have to be concerned about one hitting you in an accident, they stand a good chance of driving over you at the same time!

there is a plug just to the left of the steering colum that has all kinds of outputs..12v constant, 12v acc, reveres, speed sensor, interior light, ect...but you will need to find it and use a 12v tester. the plug is around 12mm x 30mm in size...
