supercharger project

Postby castek » Sun Jan 16, 2011 10:28 am

Hey guys.

Well I'm starting my saving plan to get the Avo turbo kit in approx 6 months.

Basically I want to start getting the supporting mods soon.

I found a set of denso injectors off a wrx which are side feed, is the 05 side or top feed?

Also, are the stock gt fuel pumps any good? Was thinking going aftermarket

Thanks

edit: so after some talks with avo, the us kit wont fit the audm kit, due to space issues between the two models

as a result, i have decided that i will be using a raptor sc kit to get my boost kick.

keep an eye on this thread as i will post my updates here

first step is the monitoring, so lc1 wideband afr kit with gauge and a boost gauge, all mounted in the cubby
second stage is the fuel and ignition manipulation tools from jaycar
third stage is the fmic and supercharger itself

its not going to happen overnight, but i am working my ass off saving for this, and also getting a second job to help the process move along

how many supercharged gen4's are there?

Can't really help you with the injectors but for fuel pump I'd say aftermarket...cos most of us turbo guys upgrade the fuel pump when we start doing mods

It wont need much, the car will only be running 5psi so it doesnt really need a big pump.

Was thinking the walbro gss342 or a bosch, but i only know of the 044 in those and that would be overkill

The walbro will do the trick, once my car is sorted keep an eye on the sales i'll be listing my GT injectors which are top feed but not sure what cc they are rated at.

you think they'll fit an 05 though? i think they changed from top to side feed (or vice versa) throughout the range.
I need 440cc injectors or thereabouts as thats what the base tune is set for.
thanks

Most of the Sydney-siders (or people who have dealt with Phat GT) are running the SARD fuel pump. Phat's pros and cons for using SARD make a lot of sense.

Sard is very expensive...but for a good reason.

Have you thought of a Bosch 040? It's an intake pump as opposed to the 044 which is external (pretty sure it's external but I have heard of some people mounting them internally back in my silvia days)

I haven't really thought of too much to be quiet honest.

It's hard getting answers from the guys at Avo as I want to make Sure Im not buying more than I need.
No real point of having a 400l/h pump on something that's never going to use it

I'd never plan on going over say 6psi without going to a low comp set up

I have a set of new Deatschwerk 650cc top feed injectors if you are interested.
I bought them direct from Deatschwerks (US) in case Paul @ Pulse needed them when he tuned the OMGmobile after the VF52 was fitted.
FYI, Paul said the VF52 did not need a larger fuel pump.

well based on being able to retain the standard injectors (cars at service right now so i couldnt get the part number to see what cc are in mine at the moment), it will cost between $4000 and $5500

this comes down to the tuning, if i can help the guys out at raptor, i get a good price on the kit, not sure on the price if i cant assist in tuning

and for the tuning, i'll be looking at going for the jaycar adjustable fuel programmer and high energy ignition system for adjustments.

thats incl. price of lc1 wideband, boost gauge, all jaycar products and a front mount.

could be a bit cheaper without fmic and gauges.

by the way, this is the supercharged kit, not avo's turbo kit :D

i just re read this, with the edit, i had my heart set on the turbo kit,
i thought the only difference between the front end of the lib/legacy was the puffed front bar, maybe they thought the intercooler wouldn't fit in our front bar ?

The uppipe and down pipe won't fit due to our steering being in the way.

Not to say a turbo kit isnt possible but you need custom piping done and that's where most of the cost is.

Even with the price I get stainless for and my mate having an exhaust shop, there's almost 1.5k just there. Plus intercooler plumbing might be different as is the tune.
