AM Auto built Blaevan's.

Yepp putting "big-inch V8s to shame" is a given and kinda' the name of the game, but a single high inertia turbo running off the uniform exhaust pulses from all six cylinders is bound to generate some sorta lag IMO. So, roughly at what rpms does the turbo spool up at?

Jesus its funny reading through some of these old threads.
Mobboss, you are such a fuckwit.

The thing has sweet fuck all lag. From 2000rpm it pulls harder in every gear than 250kw atw 07 STI does. It'll cruise in 6th at 650rpm and pull cleanly.

From 4000rpm it will
a) break a tailshaft
b) break 3rd gear (the latest trick up its shorts)
c) break traction with 4 wheels (plated diffs, 2nd gear/3rd gear. 4th and 5th in the wet).
Power wise, 335kw atw on a single 044.

Your attitude then, and continuing from the shitdribble you post here and on nasioc etc is astoundingly arrogant. Well before you, and prior to perrin even knowing subaru had an ez30r, we had two of them apart in the shed. It hasnt caught fire, it has performed flawlessly, and it was built with the blood and sweat of its owner, not a chequebook.

Peace folks. more bourbon.

Hmm, well that video was pretty crap - showed nothing except a lot of off noise.

So you're from AM Auto? I've seen some of the dodgy work that has come out of that workshop

No I'm not.

That video showed a real ez30r putting down 600+hp. Not a bolt on timebomb with 400 being a fuckwit on public roads surrounded by cars.

Ease up on the language 50 cent, it's a public forum.

Your video looks like it's on a public road anyway, the start of it can see a quite a few cars around too. At the end it looks and sounds like your in a tunnel.

The thing has sweet fuck all lag. From 2000rpm it pulls harder in every gear than 250kw atw 07 STI does. It'll cruise in 6th at 650rpm and pull cleanly. - so what? - this means nothing! At what revs does it achieve full spool?

From 4000rpm it will - 4000rpm!!?? - THIS = LAG! There you go - you said it yourself!
a) break a tailshaft - Wow that must be handy on the way to work
b) break 3rd gear (the latest trick up its shorts) - so what now you shift through to 4th - gimme a break seriously when are you backyard bogans gonna understand driveability matter more than raw, badly tuned power bands.
c) break traction with 4 wheels (plated diffs, 2nd gear/3rd gear. 4th and 5th in the wet). - nothing spectacular here been there, still doing that.
Power wise, 335kw atw on a single 044. - 290Kw with stock internals and 'daily-driver' reliability through meticulous tuning, just to say that it can be done. With forged internals later this year we expect to "smash that" figure!

Your attitude then, and continuing from the shitdribble - Is that even a word? WOW, just wow... you post here and on nasioc etc is astoundingly arrogant. Well before you, and prior to perrin even knowing subaru had an ez30r, we had two of them apart in the shed. It hasnt caught fire - Ferrari's 458 Italia is prone to catching fire and the car gets destroyed within seconds - from a Supercar giant after years of development and millions spent - our car after only 6 months of R&D had a minor fire where the sound proofing started to smoulder on a 40+degree track day - one wiring loom later it is as good as new, it has performed flawlessly - does that include a broken tailshaft and 3rd gear?, and it was built with the blood and sweat of its owner, not a chequebook.

Peace folks. more bourbon. - Ahhh yes the bourbon - this explains alot...

This is what puts me off forums - misinformed, uneducated, backyard bogans like this fool makings ignorant flagrantly insulting comments like this ("blood and sweat of its owner, not a chequebook" who said anything about chequebook? And "IAN", what makes you think there was no blood sweat or tears involved in my build - I've got the cuts and the surgical scars over my hands and face to proove it!!!) and ("Mobboss, you are such a fuckwit.") - feelings are mutual mate! Especially now that I've just found out who you really are...
These blatantly inflammatory comments are clearly borne out of some sort of pathological delusional jealousy - he clearly has no idea about my car or its build yet he dares to call the kettle black and accuses me of being "astoundingly arrogant"!?
"IAN" I'll say this only once: If you find my posts on NASIOC and here so infuriating then STOP READING THEM and just leave me alone and stop polluting these forums with your mindless profane waffle! Just PM me and we can meet up and talk this through...

Furthermore, to this forum's 'administrators': Why are this user's posts permitted and his membership kept unhindered with such targetted and unprovoked profanity pasted all over them? Please explain what is the purpose of an administrator on this forum?

MobBoss I have nothing but respect for what you have done to your car, and I immediately reported Ian's post as soon as I saw it (at around 5am...well before anybody else had read the post, aside from me) but this forum only has 1 admin, so you cannot expect Ric to be on top of everything. I think it works having only one person as an admin for this forum, as it's not a huge community, and when things get out of hand Ric will step in because he knows when enough is enough. I'm sure if anyone actually cared what this Ian guy said, then Ric might ban it, but by the looks of things people just skim over what he says because of the way he posts. (that sentence is not lost on me don't worry)

I have posted multiple times about Ian being....cynical (understatement of the year)....of course it's an internet forum and people are entitled to their opinion, no matter how silly they may appear, once again this sentence is not lost on me.

In the end just don't listen to what he has to say, so far nobody else has done so, and with his attitude I don't see why anyone would start to.
He has a chip on his shoulder about what other people do with their cars, which to me is totally ridiculous, to come on a forum and make judgements on other peoples cars without even allowing their own car to get judged at the same time. Even worse is that he will not offer advice unless it's to put someone down for something, which kind of defeats the purpose of advice. If you aren't trying to be helpful then you are just trying to be a know it all dickhead.

/end rant - begin new rant/
As a side note this is an end to my posts unless I have something useful to contribute, which will be almost never as I know next to nothing about cars in comparison to everyone here, so I will just post in the detailing thread as it's all I am (semi)capable enough at.
At least I tried to bring some life in to the forums, even if it made people hate me(/my online persona....keep that in mind), it still worked in getting things done. Getting cruises started & Michael to make more quads (expect them early this year)
Goodnight.

Someone obviously doesnt understand turbocharging a high VE engine.

Go along little one, enjoy the bolt on toddler's, one day you will maybe read or start to learn about how it 'should' work, and you'll make more power from idle through to redline for the experience.

Mindless incoherent waffle only further highlighting your true ignorance... You really are a piece of work aren't you, - you just don't know when to shut up and walk away do you? And NO I will never read? or ever start to learn how to be a 'backyard BOGAN'! Now go on, on ya way, go shred another gearbox...

Aww, cut Ric some slack. This free and public forum is looked after by a single administrator. And most like everyone else, Ric's probably taking a relaxing break during this holiday period. Unfortunately he cannot check each and every message posted up. Just send him a PM like Kieran did and when Ric returns he'll take appropriate action. However, keep in mind it's always been Ric's policy to let the forum have it's own autonomy, only intervening when it's really required.

And dude, man up! So you got flamed on a public forum! I'm sure it's not the first time and it most likely won't be the last. Can't censor every single negative comment made about you or Pulse. But it looks like you fought back so it's not like you needed any assistance. :D

Its not the flaming that bothers me - and as you can see, its usually me that ends up doing most of the flaming as you know only too well  (no hard feelings I hope) and truth be told as you can see above, I kinda enjoy defending my corner and tearing someone a new orifice figuratively  . What bothers me about this particular forum user "Ian" is his unprovoked rudeness and use of profanity...
That said, I thank both of you ('Chaotic2050' and 'Arith') for taking the time to explain how the forum works - I must say I didn't realise it was a one man band and am certainly willing to 'cut him some slack' forthwith. However, I still feel this "Ian" user's profile should be sanctioned/restricted in some way or at least contacted by the administrator, after viewing some of his other posts on other threads in this forum, valid and noteworthy though some of his contributions maybe - notwithstanding their delivery  , in my opinion, he needs an attitude adjustment before continuing to contribute to this forum.
Once again thanks to both you for taking the time to answer my question.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

All I can say is Time Attack! Track day shootout will sort it all out provided there are enough gearboxes and driveshafts to go around. Six hundred HP from a turbo 3.0 isn't that big a feat but driveability / reliability is and that's where this guy is sadly lacking. Get the two cars on the track for a TA lap and then and hour session and see who's got the right set-up then.
