Well HKS180 recommended the 28's but I'll ask him and see if I would benefit more from less SMD's.

Well it's just reverse lights, and my windows are so tinted it's very hard to see reversing up my god forsaken driveway. Seriously you should see it. The brighter the better, nobody else is really going to see them anyway. Hopefully anyone walking behind the car at night is wearing sunglasses (because you should always wear sunglasses at night)

If its that dark I reckon go for broke and put some HIDs in. If anyone is walking behind your car and staring while you reverse..It's their own fault ;)
The wiring and everything is a bit of a pain though.. you have to run wiring down to power your lights as the socket won't produce enough power..
Looked at everything I had to do..and I was like :banned: Stop right there lol...too much work for me.. hehe  I'm quite lazy.

I have too many lights to install already, so I'll just stick with the SMD's but thanks for the info. Can't wait to see what it all looks like. Will post pics for sure when it's done.

So far your out of luck, LED's seem to be less illuminating than halogen globes.
Maybe some brighter halogens exist somewhere?

That or install a HID kit in there.....but that might melt your tail lights, and also blind people behind you.

As in your brake lights? If yes, I'm using these at the moment:

Found them off eBay for $20 a pair. They are very bright and intense. However if you rely on your brake lights as illumination when reversing in the dark, these won't provide that much illumination. They are bright and intense to look at (enough to punch through the tint), however like all LED's provide poor long distance illumination spread. But I have my reverse lights that do the job, so I don't have to rely on the brake lights, especially since I have tinted taillights already.

The last pair I had lasted me over 2 years, so they were pretty reliable. For some reason the red LED seems brighter than the white LED when it comes to the brake lights.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums here so firstly thanks to everyone, I've already gained huge benefits from the info community sharing this forum.

Okay so introductions aside... I'm inspired to react on an idea I spawned that I haven't found posted here yet (from the few posts I've browsed anyway).

The red courtesy light on the front doors has no personality, so a shake of the magic wand and I present to you a red strip up the inside of the door, great for those night time cyclists who need a heads up.

I also gave the big thumbs up to the downward facing light strips posted here earlier. I tried the xenon type led strip and although impressed I felt that the intensity could be improved, so after some trial and error and a healthy eBay alliance with our good friends in China, the end result is a 60cm warm white 5050 led strip which projects an amount of light that'll have the moths entertained for hours...

Welcome mate and thanks for sharing! hks180 (Leo) on these forums has beat you to it  Not sure if he has a photo posted up in his vendor section but his is mounted slightly different to yours.

Looks good, you should post an introduction thread :)

hahaha ... great work !! i was thinking the same when i did the RED led strip for the side (make sure the cyclist see me opening the door ... and the driver too)

the only difference is i only use a 30cm strip .. plus my courtesy light still work where i have put a white LED with clear cover.

welcome to the forum !
