ROTA gravels +44 or +48 wheel offset - and which colour?

Postby Murch » Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:22 pm

Hi all wheel guru's,

I'm looking to buy a set of rota gravel wheels (enkei TBSTi look alikes...nice).

I can get them in 18x8 with either a +44 or +48 offset. I'll be putting them on a MY05 GT that will soon be fitting with bilsteins and (phat special) tein s.tech lowering springs. Which would be best. I've done a little of reading, as it is the +48 sit just inside the guards - so very flush looking. If I'm correct....do the +44 make the rim sit even further away from the car - so it would most likely rub??
Also, the offset in the pics is +48.
EDIT: After doing more reading it look slike the +48 would be perfect. So ignore this whole section....let's just debate colour!

While we're on the subject....which colour would you buy for a silver GT sedan?
The pics of the 3 diff rim colours goes; gunmetalic -> hyper black -> hyper silver.
I'm trying to decide between hyper silver and hyper black - which are displayed in the pics. I'm leaning to the silver ones, they others just look dirty.

You want +44s in Hyper black. +44 is close to flush but no rubbing with a 225/40/18 tyre. This is the size/offset I run on my wagon and have no clearance issues:

I run 18x8 +42 and no rubbing until i dumped my car lol.

With no camber, you'll start rubbing at 42 or below I think.

18 x 8 +48 for me. Although I don't have lowered suspension but 19 x 8 +48 with teins + Bilsteins don't rub. Mine sits nice. Not a fan of the herrra flush look though.

1) Gunmetal
2) Hyperblack

Also would look at the AdvanRS copies (Rota G Forces)

In that case then the +48 would be my best bet.

Now for the toughest decision.....colour. Sooo many sleepless nights!!

look at wheeldude i think it is. They have heaps of pictures of the wheels.

Worst case scenario is that you dont like them, get them painted/powdercoated to what you do like later. Dark wheels on silver = hot

Been there, done thta. I've done a crazy amount of web crawling to find pics. Just can't decide on colour. The hyper black just seem to look so different in every pics. I'm generally not a fan of black rims etc, but don't mind a subtle grey - like to TB Sti's.

I have Gunmetal SVNs on my silver Outback and they do look very good. I'd certainly go with the gunmetal.

Go with the 18 x 8 with +48 offset. You will not have any fitment issues with these.

ROTA gravels +44 or +48 wheel offset - and which colour?

Postby Jimmy S » Fri Dec 03, 2010 9:27 am

Definitely get the lower offset +44's! As has been mentioned, they fit fine and the lower offset will look better on the car!
I think the darker colours hyper black/gunmetal look the best against the silver paint!

Good Luck!
