h6 conversion in 3rd gen

Postby ej25tt » Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:21 pm

hey all,

i am looking for some educated knowledge (not unsubstantiated opinion), about which way to go with my build-up.

i have been chasing an ez30r to go with the non dccd 6spd box, to go in my donor 3rd gen liberty wagon. however, today i was offered a crate 3.6 for a very good price. i was wondering if anyone has had some experience with said engine, (being from a jap spec liberty im lead to believe), or whether i would be better off sticking with my original plans for the ez30r transplant.

as the head gasket in the ej25d currently taking up space in the bay, is causing over pressurisation of my cooling system (overheating), i am in need of a quick decision, so as i can get started, but dont want to go in with a guess that bigger is better. (as its not a chev transplant!).

any HELP would be appreciated!

Haven't heard of a 3.6L conversion into a Gen3 as yet.

The EZ36 is a better engine for several reasons. It has almost identical exterior dimensions to the EZ30R. So it'll fit - thats if you have already measured up your car for an EZ30 that is...
The crate motors from japan are excellent. Find out where the engine is coming from and why. Usually they are off a crash test dummy car and those engines are HAND BUILT taken out of the dummy car and then rebuilt before they send them to you, so they are the creme de la creme of engines. I am Speaking from very recent experience here. Hope that helps.

Please feel free to PM me if you want anymore details.

lol...where did you get that information from? give me their contact info. all crashed tested car must be squashed and never used again. i have a very close friend who works at subaru australia's engineering dept who can vouch for this.....most engines come from stripped complete drivable cars or accident written of cars (japanese do have accidents cars) as most cars are worth in pieces than together

I will wait for a reply from Boss before I get kicked off the forum.

My understanding from visiting a crash lab is crash test cars are catapulted engine is never started and fuel tank is full of NON explosive fluid as these tests are carried out inside

So why would a engine need to be HAND BUILT and all engines hand build or do you mean blueprinted
