Hey guys just wondering. You are talking about kw at the wheels after a v-tune but I was just wondering what would it put it at the flywheel/engine (180kw stock with vtune ???)

Cheers

You'd have to estimate the transmission loss and calculate it. No-one is going to take their engine out of their car just to get a measurement... :)

Basically he is worried that his car is over the power to weight ratio for P platers, which it would have to be with all those mods.

If he ever got pulled over, how are they ever going to know or even check? Not unless they have a dyno handy. :D But should he be driving a turbo car on P's to start with? :D

Hey Nick,

Stock 3.0R engine produces (avg) 180 Kw at the Flywheel and 298 Nm ot torque. With the V-Tune, I gain a 10% improvement in both power and torque (according to the before and after dyno runs), therefore, applying the 10%, I would estimate 198 Kw and 327 Nm at the flywheel. That would not be an unreasonable estimate in my opinion, but I am sure there are others of higher learning that could provide better insight!

Personally, I am going to commence the "remote tuning" with Edward (westminster) and then take the vehicle back to RevZone for a comparison on their dyno. Already got a dyno run from them (all dynos are not equal) so I have a baseline from which to compare latter. I am looking to reduce the DBW lag and improve the fuel mapping across the entire rev range. I think Edward also does AVCS tuning (we have that on both the intake and exhaust valves) so it will be interesting to see what can be done.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

My pleasure for the help Nick. Us 3.0R lads got to stick together as some of those GT lads think they own the place! :D

Also, some warning. These forums have the full range of personalities, some humourous and other not so humourous, some respected, and other just out to burn anyone they can. The general rule is if your seeking opinions, be aware that you will attract some that are not too pleasing to read. For me, I take that as valuable feedback and weigh up all sentiments expressed, but then just do what I want anyway!!! I have developed a bit of a thick skin to those types of feedback. As another member once said, if we don't want others to express their opinions, then we should not post in the first place. Not a bad bit of advice I reckon. But then, I don't care too much what others say, so I post away regardless. Most of the time, people mean to be humourous or sarcastic, but it can easily be misinterpreted as we read it.

So that was my fatherly advice for the month! Now who can I pay out? :D

I don't think Kieran was being unfriendly at all. He was just taking a plausible guess at a possible reason for asking this question.

Actually the real reason for his post, was that I sent a PM off to him telling him his car would technically be illegal to be driven, and was just informing him that if worst came to worst and the insurance company /police requested a dyno (it's not an impossible scenario) he is pretty much up shit creek if he is in an accident and found to be driving a car that he is not licensed to be driving.
So I wasn't guessing his reasoning for posting, I knew why he was posting it, and was just trying to lead you guys in the right direction.

Still no idea why you over reacted like that, I was just trying to let you know?

Like I said in the PM's, all you need is 7kW to be over the limit.
There are cops out there who know a hell of a lot about cars, believe me....ask BennyGSR about Jason, he can rattle off the kerb weight and flywheel kw for most production cars.
