Next cruise - Mount Baw Baw?

Like on Sunday there was only 1 speed camera (unattended) and only 1 cop showed up to the Beechworth Bakery around 1pm. Probably got wind of our cruise, he drove around the car park for a bit, I was watching him while we sat outside.
Compare that to the previous cruise in the same area, and we saw 3 police cars while driving.

Well, here come my two cents worth!

BAW BAW
We drove a very similar cruise to Baw Baw on the Labour Day long weekend earlier this year. The roads from Lillydale to Nojee is pretty straight / cruising. The road fm Nojee to the top of Baw Baw is twisty and the section fom Nojee down to Blue Rock Dam is also a very good piece of twisty. All these roads are tarmac and no need of further scouting/recce. We lunched at Yarragon Bakery then cruised back to Melboune via the Freeway. A good half day cruise if you don't hang round for lunch at Yarragon or Trafalgar.

For those who are interested, after lunch, there is a very scenic an twisty bit of road heading due south from either Yarragon or Trafalgar to Leongatha. The section from Trafalgar I am reasonably sure is all tarmac (recce needed to confirm). I do know the section from Yarragon to Leongatha is gravel after the junction with McDonalds Track. I have driven it several times as well as McDonalds Track (yes, I am a true AWD enhusiast ). The views are stunning across the top of Mt Worth, but it is dusty gravel!

If we do the post lunch scenic route to Leongatha, we would continue to back toward Melbourne on the Sth Gippy Hwy to the Monash. Thi section is quite cruisy /straight and some of the towns along the route have some unique wares / features / Sunday markets, etc. This would be a full day event starting at 8am Lilydale and finishing 4pm Cranbourne. Lunch at either Yarragon or Trafalgar or dare I say Moe maccas.

ROUND THE BAY
The West side of the bay is very cruisy / straight and can be varied a little but not a lot to gain. The Ferry to Sorento is $50 per car. After we get to the Srento side, we would lunch. Then we take the Boneo road as suggested, to Flinders. Then we include a "must do" Arthur's Seat road, over the top, good carpark shot with spectacular views of the bay. Continue on down to Dromana, along the beach road to Mornington. Will be crowded at that time of day, but enjoyable nonetheless for the cruisy amoung us. Also, good ice cream parlours at Mornington to finish.

GREAT OCEAN ROAD
Would love to do that road again, but it is very crowded on weekends and accident prone which can leave traffic jams for hours. Early morning mid week for me would be the only timing that would suit / entice. Could make a good cruise/weekend out to Warnambool (to say hello to Andy's father in law )! Return via the Otway Fly and then Ballarat, Melbourne.

Now timing? What weekends are we considering?

haha gold.. he's already telling me that he wants to tag along on the next one. but this time he's called shot gun for the passengers seat, he was sliding all over the place in the back on the leather seats when we were coming down spur lol

Im up for any of Ric's routes, i prefer the twisties as i don't get to drive on them very often, if i wanted a straight bit of road i'd take a freeway

+1 to that. I have to drive the Monash daily, so I hang out for twisties as often as possible. Gets me into trouble ocassionally as the missus wonders why we go to Ringwood via Belgrave and Kalista all the time

I can lend you a helmet and fire extinguisher with bracket to fit a Liberty if you're keen. Ric might let in a late entry.

Nothing wrong with being careful, I was just pointing out that the people who want to drive slower shouldn't sit at the very front.
