If you want to use OEM subaru bits get the 2006 plus 2.5l wrx flywheel and the Sti 1050kg clutch plate (not the standard wrx one). In America at least, Subaru moved back to single mass flywheel in 2007. Don't know if they did the same here.

Mine is a 2.0l GT and these bits fit no problem (but mine were aftermarket). My flywheel had written on it 06 2.5l WRX.

Okay so the two part numbers are:
KSU24503 - Generic DMF replacement clutch kit, looking at over $2000
KSU24530 - Solid flywheel replacement clutch kit, ACS quoted $1055

Don't you just love the way it costs $1000 less to go faster. If you have to replace your clutch any way this mod actually saves you money.

That and the further savings you make on a flywheel regrind next time the clutch wears out. win-win situation.

Sure is a win win.

Many clutch places say not to regrind the DMF but Eblens Subaru dealership in Adelaide do. They send them to Tony Knight from Knight engines. I kept my old one just in case someone needs one someday. If I did this again I might go to the trouble of getting the flywheel and clutch plate balanced as a rotating assembly. It only costs between $50-80. See if it helps with the very slight rattle. Otherwise I am not looking back. The car is currently driving better than new. Love how quickley the revs drop as well as how quickly it spools up. I am verging on getting a VF36 to replace the TD04HLA now as it just comes on boost so fast. Will maybe go the dump pipe first but that will make it spool up even quicker.

Getting great fuel economy on the open road and around town (10l/100km) and the grin factor is there more than it ever was.

Update!

Kit arrived this morning, $1060 inc. Pilot bearing for the flywheel.
Rofle Subaru in Canberra installing next Wednesday (car is under lease so best getting Subaru to do the work).

As mentioned previously by Breeze91, clutch is 225mm WRX clutch, but with heavier duty pressure plate.
Flywheel is sourced from 2.5L WRX, but lightened for good measure

Yeah I got the same kit and installed it last week. Absolutely amazing how heavy the dual mass flywheel was compared to the new one.

The major difference is in the peddle feel, it seems very light now and the friction point at a nice mid level. The engine revs up a lot more when not on boost and it is a bit twitchy on take off. That maybe just me getting used to it though, but with the money saved compared to what Subaru quoted I am very pleased with the result.

My clutch is on the way out (or more precisely not handling the increased power), and am tossing up between the Exedy clutch/flywheel kit versus the Xtreme kit. Race Brakes in Melb. prefer the Xtreme gear (especially the carbon ones $$$) but others like AVO use Exedy. Which one??

Just putting it out there, but Subaru Australia have a DMF replacement kit out, part number SAS1065 (comes with flywheel and bolts, clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch fork and springs), RRP is $1100.
I know someone who can get the kits for $900 shipped basically anywhere in Australia.

As you can see in the pics above the clutch is just a stock replacement. It will give you a lot better pedal feel but if you are looking for a heavy duty clutch to cope with power gains, it might not be the best suited. I can launch mine at 4000rpm just as long as the boost isn't on too hard initially (I tried this once/twice just to see how much better the clutch really was), but I doubt in a normal clutch lifetime you will be able to sustain this, your diff will give up after a while too!

The Xtreme flywheel on the other hand is fantastic, the engine loves to respond to revs, and with a revised DBW throttle map, you'll have a lot of fun with it; I know I have!

As far as I was aware, Exedy did not offer a replacement flywheel for the EJ20Y, only a 245mm clutch to suit the Sachs DMF our cars come with.
But as you can also see in the above pics, the Xtreme flywheel is just an upgraded lightweight 2.5L WRX version. Just ensure if you fit it with a 225mm clutch and 1050kg pressure plate (as the Xtreme kit comes with this). WRX pressure plate is only rated for 800kg apparently.

If it is, It's certainly not the SACHS DMF; Subaru told me the DMF was around $1800 on its own.

Subaru clutches are complete rubbish. Fair enough they ensure the gearbox isn't abused, but they feel heavy and numb.
