Has anyone asked Ric if he'd consider adding a tuning sub forum? Recent discussions with a few members suggests it might be an area of interest and prove popular.

I'm very interested in the results Edward is getting, but would rather a place to read a technical discussion rather than a reprinted email cross posted in multiple threads.

Your descriptions is really not appropriate here, since this thread been started by me and other threads in my vendor area. If one do not search the vendor area, there will see this thread to be dead.

A technical area would be good, but it has to based on function and content and heavily utilised to have it in the first place.

Hello guys,

I did a DBW update for my latest customer. To those I tuned let me know if you are interested in this dbw update. Its a tab more aggressive to your current dbw. The update is free to you.

Help!

I took my car to a tuning house today who specialises in Subaru, all models and engine/transmission mix, but they cannot tune my ROM as they cannot locate the decoder (XML). The ECU has been previously tuned at STI Melbourne (the famous V-Tune) and the ROM internal id number is D2ZY101H.

Are you able to assist in any way?

Strange that about 3 weeks ago, I took my vehicle to then (ADM MY05 Oct 2004 3.0R 5EAT) and they were able to download the ROM and perform a "write test", so we booked the vehicle in. Today, they could not write at all to the ROM at all.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Thanks West Minist,

I will see if they will send me the file tomorrow, then forward it to you for assessment.

I guess I will need to invest in the Tactrix 2.0 cable and notebook computer (for Romraider and ECUflash software) if we are going to "tune"?

Any advice for a newbie? I know to start reading, but just where to start? This thread, Romraider site? Any other recommendations?

Kind Regards,

Mark.

For most novice I tuned, don't worry about it. Just drive and log and send me the logs.

Most learn as their go along, but just want to live their every day life and not worry about tuning. Some resell the cable after finishing. But it is an experience for them as their learn as they go along.

Yes you will need the cable and a windows laptop.

Check some customers responses:

Mark, if you are going to buy a tactrix cable, PM me, as I might get one too - maybe we can save on postage if gettting them from OS, or get bulk () discount!

Bennygsr,

I actually bought a VAG-COM cable off eBay. It was only $22 incl delivery. Just waiting for delivery. A couple of people have recommended this cable as an alternative to the Tactrix cable. There is also a driver for the VAG-COM cable identified and downloadable for Windows XP. Just shopping around now for a cheap small Notebook PC with windows XP.

You can read all about the VAG-COM cable stuff here:

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6033&start=0&hilit=VAG

But this is only good for pre-CANBUS ECUs, and my 3.0R is an Oct 2004 build, so should work.

Seasons Greetings everyone!

Just to update everyone.

I started working on a Germany EDM 3R before it moves to a Supercharger. She is working well. Operating temperatures are below 10C for now

Hello Edward,

Great run, works perfect - can it become better?
Can you make the dbw a little bit more aggressive then now?

Ingmar: Re: The car was perfect, the dbw was a dream.

I am working on another old tune, where the customer moved to a K2 Exhaust system. This car has picked up an additional 1 degree timing in many places and working well. The exhaust systems looks nice.

Have a great week everyone!

The exhaust with Edwards hands for the ecu are the best combination for the increase of power . The car becomes a beast ;).
