Legalities regarding Windscreen Stickers. (QLD)

Postby jacobraftery » Tue Sep 21, 2010 9:57 pm

Hey everyone,

Just bought this off ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWNX:IT
And it arrived today, It looks great in black and grey... But Im slightly worried about the legalities involved. Obviously its going to impare SOME vision, but it doesnt come down any further then the sun visors would when they are folded down.

I searched, and I couldnt find anything on the forums, or really on the internet.
is there a rule of thumb? I'll probably just call the police tomorrow and find out, but wouldnt mind some insider knowledge.
Thanks guys.

J.

Gee thanks for the help.
I bought it to keep the sun off the dash, and my knees. I didn't want to just get a black strip of tint. Im not asking you if it looks good, or if you would buy it.. Just if its legal.
Thanks.

You're allowed to install a solid strip on top edge of the windscreen, no lower than the height of your sunshades (or thereabouts). For the exact measurement check your local road rules act.

Reporting in! :assassin:

Whatever floats your boat, it's not as white trash redneck style as a HOLDEN sticker on a crappy commodore.
Go for it

If your windscreen wipers touch it while they're operating it's illegal. Not sure if there are other rules as well.

Shane this guy doing the prep course for vic police in my class drives a VT commodore with chopped springs, some terrible 19" chromies, giant holden sticker on the front windscreen, blue LED's for parkers + number plate lights and he has done something illegal (not exactly sure maybe cut out the resonator?) to make his car (V6) stupidly loud. He also wears his white baseball style cap sideways....when he is inside.
Those are the kinds of people that I hate :angry2:

in QLD, if your wiperblades touch the sticker the cops have a whinge about it.

altho they wont fine you for it, IF they notice it at all they might ask you to remove it. i've got a big banner across the top of my windscreen on my truck, and havent had any dramas from the 5 0 for the past 2 years
