Cheap Rims

Postby ma77mm » Mon Sep 20, 2010 2:31 pm

Hey all,

I've been looking around ebay a little bit to find some cheap rims for my car -
Its a black MY05 3.0R with very dark tint.
Ideally i'd like black rims with a chrome or polished finish around them.

Although I found these rims on ebay and is wondering what you guys think of them - My car isn't lowered either?

Thanks

Buy a reasonably expensive car then whack the cheapest rims from Ebay. Win.

Stick with OEM Subaru wheels unless you can spend a bit more money then $500 on rims in my opinion.

Personally I would not waste money on cheap (second hand, possibly damaged) rims only a close second to wasting money on cheap tyres. You should google "snapped alloy wheel" or something similar it pretty much sums it up. OEM cast wheels are the strongest you can get without buying expensive forged ones.

I have a show pony, so I'm not against getting cheap rims that you happen to like. Sure, they may be heavy or unbalanced, but unless you're planning to track them or drive like a race car driver on the street, as long as you have decent tires that grip and are comfortable, just get them. If you find something you really like that's in your price range, just get them. Just be sure to match them with middle of the line tires and not the bottom end.

i agree with getting whatever you want, cos hey its your own ride, but OP stated that he is getting some cheap rims for the time being until he can afford some nicer ones... i reckon i'd be just saving for the nicer rims and skip the temporary cheap rims route!

Well if the cheap rims look good to the OP, then why not? :P Otherwise if they're fugly and he's just getting them for the sake of something non-factory, then no!!!!! :P

I started my new job today,

and there was a 06 wrx out the front all day, must of worked some where close, well the point to this post is that it had the same rims as the ones i found on ebay.
They looked alright, although it was a white car.

Im not sure what chrome wheels would look like on a black car? ? ?

Uh-oh, don't let people on this forum hear you ask that. Most of them are anti-chrome when it comes to wheels. LOL! :P

But I was once a lover of chrome (still am  and don't care what others think :D), and had it on my MY05 GT.

This will give you an idea with a set of 19's.

And before someone has a chance to make a derogatory comment, "Screw you chrome haters!" :yes2:
