Postby VRMPSH » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:33 am

hi all, new to liberty stuff well i dont even own one yet still undecided between a Forester GT and a Liberty or Outback Wagon.
I've owned a 98 WRX for a couple of years now and its time to update my GFs car so i guess i'm here to try and figure it out which way to go.
Ive been struggling to find decent info on the H6 and 2.5T motors, power output, possible mods (i cant leave anything alone)

Welcome mate.

From experience the H6 is a awsome motor out of the box, . It's still a NA and can't be boosted in power much besides the usual swap over rear mufflers and a intake.

The GT (05-06) is a 5 speed manual/ auto, turbo which feels less refined but has more potential for upgrades
The GTB (07 - 09) has the 6 speed manual/ 5 speed auto. 6 speed is a great gear box like i said and matched with a great engine with a bit more torque. Also came with better suspension, HID headlights and upgraded body and interior bits.

Make sure you test drive both the H6 and GT's before you make the plunge as they are all different.

thanks guys, i have a few other cars that suck up my funds, so looking for a VIP style daily,,, Fully loaded Outback H6 is looking like the go. Will liberty body kits fit? Can i dump it back down to earth?
Only looking to spend 14k for something around 140K kms 2001ish

So do you guys consider Outbacks equal to Libertys? Other than the obvious ride height and bumpers what else is different?

Why would you bother lowering an outback. Just get a 3.0 lt liberty and mod that.

Please no chrome "tempe" rims

Agh you want a gen 3 well then you won't find a 3.0 ltr. Door lover panel lines up with the flare and they line up with bars so if you change the bar they must be made to suit an outback.

Same front as your sig pic is what i like. Libs not come in 3L?? only OBs? Im yet to find a Gen3 GT to compare the H6 too.

Like i said im new to the larger Subys, id rather ask stupid questions here than make a stupid mistake and buy the wrong car

If you want a wagon then you need to look for a jdm legacy gtb that has been imported here. Subaru australia did not sell gen 3 wagons as turbos or h6 in Australia. As I have said only the outback came with a h6. You could always convert a rx or heritage to a turbo. Just need to buy a sti font cut and do the transplant but is a bit of work. Goodluck
