Pickle of an XK JAG

Postby GTB-R » Sun Aug 29, 2010 4:37 pm

I have a problem. A friend of mine who is a Jag freak often rolls his cars over every three years. He's trading in his 2007 Jaguar XK for the new Jaguar XJ. He's offer me his car for trade in price, this looks to be around 80k.

Problem of course is that I only bought my stunning black 2009 GTB-R around three months ago. I haven't even passed the 20,000kms mark on its clock.

So I've been given the chance to upgrade on the cheap.

He ticked all the options box's as well as the 20inch rims, the car is the dark blue that looks black most of the time.

Anyone got some advice?

These jags aren't that quick, it's 1750kg's & only 220KW at the flywheel on tap. It's also a slushy auto NOT DSG type. Fuel consumption is around 17 in the city then down to 8 on the highway.

It's honestly the aesthetics, I love the way it looks & I don't need more than two doors.

He's only done around 40,000kms in it & just replaced the very expensive rubber.

Hi Clive,

As Clarence said they are a beautiful looking car but I'd imagine the running costs/servicing costs would be huge.... I'd personally keep the lib.

Good luck with the decision making!

Cheers,

Michael.

Thank you Michael, you're right costs would be up, it's something I can take on. I can't see the car needing serious work for many years yet.

It's just an idea really as the opportunity has come my way.

No problems, it is a rare car and it'd hold its resale very well.... who knows it might even become a classic ;)

A jag hold is value?? There's only a few that did / do - EType is one of them. A 2007 XK is not, and never will be a classic.

Clive - Don't get me wrong, it's a good car with great looks. Unfortunately, when something does go wrong - it normally goes really wrong! And it's no cheap to fix. But, all euro's are the same so if you've got a bit of spare dosh around, keep some just in case, but otherwise - go for it. An XK with the R-type 20" (if they are one's I'm thinking of), and the ol' Cat V8... Nice...

Are you willing to share "ball park" trade?? PM me if you'd prefer.

Cheers

It's possible as the guy is buying a new XJ, he's not going to be interested in a fast japanese car.

Tried to post a picture of the car but these bloody limitations on size of shots is incredible. I'm not talking 10mb or raw just 1.2mb
