exhaust and intake's about it... unless you want to spend big money but still you will get very little gain

Why no exhaust? For a N/A engine where you can't upgrade the turbo that would be your best bet without replacing engine internals. Even just the mufflers. Otherwise maybe even a tune?

But unless it's something extensive, it's more about improving the driveability of the car and less about numbers gain.

Get straight through mufflers will free up the top end a little but max power will change marginally if any at all. Unless you want to go for a built engine then you are wasting your money on peacemeal engine mods.

Spend all your money on suspension and good brake pads/fluid. You can then catch up in the corners when others can only go fast in a straight line

+1

But Jim, straight through mufflers (free flow), it will make the sound bigger+only good for acceleration, not for high RPM/high speed isn't it?

Straight through will generally be louder than the reverse flow mufflers which we get as stock (very restrictive). It will allow the engine to rev more freely especially at the top end.

High (road) speed can be at either high RPM or low RPM :)

Also another mod which is rarely mentioned, is driver training. Going fast takes mostly driver skill rather than car. I.e. You may need as much as 40% more power:weight ratio to keep up with someone who has only 20% better driver skill.

Go do an advanced or performance driver training event.

Where do you get these straight through mufflers? (Just out of curiosity, never heard of them before is all)

Straight through mufflers make up probably 99% of aftermarket mufflers???

Straight out, close the bonnet & save your money, the 2.5i isnt built for speed, if anything drop it on its ass and slap some rims on it.

i have to agree with making it handle!

when we did our kinglake cruise, i found i could pretty much keep up with the turbo boys in the corners, obviously not in a straight line.

If you want to go fast in a straight line, sell the liberty and get an ls2 powered commy with two hairdryers bolted either side

My god.. I couldn't agree more! You can't get a decent amount of power without losing stacks of reliabilty, it's just not possible. Even if you do want to spend a lot of money, try diff ratio's, port match the headers, cams? They can really livin things up a bit but other marki's right... Never buy a slow car and make it go quick without an engine transplant or strapping a turbo onto it.

If you want big N/A power pay a vistit to Holden :)
