Replacement bulbs?B4 light up rings on cluster, advice?

Postby B1B2andB4 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:20 pm

Hey you dirty libbo's,
Driving along tonight noticed my fuel ring was not lit up - B4 cluster.. first thing i tried was tapping the cluster and hey presto! love a bang fix!!
I'm sure its on the way out however.
Anyone help, i've never removed cluster, Can the color of the ring be changed?
While im at it what other option clusters will fit easily will the STi cluster fit?

Ta again.

It is a jdm subaru R1. The leds you need are T1.5 Instrument LED bulb $ 1.79es from .http://www.superbrightleds.com I think of hand you need 6. It is easy to change them once dash is removed. Sti dash where only sold new in japan so importmonster is your friend. You need the exact type as you and I have in our car because there is 2 types. one like our dash and the other was in the jdm gtb

http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/parts/bebh_legacy/cat8.html here are the two different ones.

Okay today half of my speedo ring went out so i need to get in there and take a look.
Is it easy to get at JDM - you say take the dash off, do i have to remove the whole dash?
Any walkthroughs posted anywhere?
What can i mess up?

Cheers again.

Hey Shaneo,

Your cluster looks great! I noticed on my cluster that I don't have illuminated rings around the guage... Is that a B4/RSK thing?

Is it as simple as soldering on LEDs? (after the dash is pull apart obviously)

Cheers,

Michael.

You only remove the bulb from the back of the cluster. They twist out. On my dash the bulb holders (6) for the rings are blue. The rest are black. So just take them out pull out the old globes. Push in the new LEDs. Place back into cluster.
