Our other ride.

You asked for it, here it is. Car porn etc. belongs here.

smythie wrote:Like I said. It was a broad guess. Personally if I was looking for an example (and I had the cash) I'd be prepared to pay around $50k for one with low original km's. I wouldn't be surprised though if an auction situation saw the price bumped much higher. I don't think collectors would go as high as $200k in an auction though

I saw one of these go at auction in 2006 for $75k, at the same auction a VK SS group A sold for about 90k, but a VL HDT Director was passed in for $96k all cars had full history

Great example of a classic,

I know some people don't want to talk about such classics so I'll only ask about what you've done to it since you've had it and what's planned for the freshen up?

Love it - well done! :D

I've owned it since May 1995 and have modded and played with it the whole time I've owned it.
I've tried very hard to keep it looking original on the outside except for the wheels as I'm not a big fan of the original Irmscher rims.

It's an original 4 speed manual but now has a Tremec 5 speed installed, and has had a few little tweaks to the brake's and suspension all in the name to make it alot safer on the road.

New mods under way include a pretty serious 355 stroker which should produce around 480 - 500hp, a heavily modded 9" diff and a few more suspension and brake mods including 4 piston calipers front and rear, as stopping and turning is just as important to me as going fast.

I have kept every original part that has been replaced or changed on the car (engine, gearbox, brakes etc) so if I ever choose too I can convert it back to original or as close to it as possible, as these cars are more desirable in original condition.

Thanks again for all the replies guys.

Cheers.

Thanks mate. Congrats on the whole look of the car. I love the wheels, the Simmons really suit the old school muscle. And that engine is going to be something else! 500hp - Noooiiiccee! And the rumble will be to die for. Make sure you keep us posted on this one!

Cheers

Nah mate. Based my guess on some of the stupid prices Phase 3's and the like have gone for in the last couple of years and what I thought of the VC in comparison

Very nice car :D Those old Holdens can be worth a mint! Same with old Ford mine you ;)

I client of mine has one of those... Before the fuel prices went sky rocketing, he said it was worth easily 130k or more :D

His dash was signed by Peter Brock as well as he used to do some driver training with him at Holden / HSV :D

Should be kicking into gear around September.
As for how long it's going to take to complete, well that's the million dollar question.
I'm hoping to be behind the wheel early next year, just in time for it to be old enough for club rego.

Well guys, with the renewed interest in the VC I thought I would post up a few more pics of the bits and pieces so far.

Torque Power intake......

The new Holley.....

One pic of the Yella Terra Dash 3 heads.....

And finally, a few special pics I thought you guys may like.

These (quad 44 IDF's) were going to be powering the stroker at first, but I went a little over the top with the cam (big solid roller) which basically rendered these too small for the job. So a Torque Power single plain and Holley (see above pics) were ordered as replacements.

I'll try and post some updated pics when I purchase a few more items.

Thanks again for your interest and your positive comments guys, its very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Rusty.

P.S.

Here's a couple more pics of the VC and the lovely Melany.

Cheers.

Rightio! That is one beautiful set up mate! One should build a garage in the middle of the house so that one can stare at this engine every day!

And, um, er, Melany is um, er, good too.

Love the HDT's. Nice car mate, well done.

As mentioned previously the Simmons set the car off well.

-I nearly bought a really good example VK Group A/3 many years ago and the deal fell through- have always wished it had not been the case. I purchased the NSW plates that I was going to put on the car and everything (HDT 05) ......... since sold the plates. From memory they are on an A9X
