Knocking noise from the left hand side

Postby THERB3 » Fri Jul 23, 2010 10:54 am

I just notice that there is a slight knocking noise from the front left hand side when turning.

Is it maybe my bushes or something to do with my steering arm ?

I am positive its not the tyres scrubbing.....

Any suggestions people. :)

Or maybe guys it is a strut problem.

How can I identify what it is ?

Keep in mind that I am changing my suspension on Wednesday.

Nut on strut top loose..
Front sway bar mount loose..
Front CV on its way out..
Wheel bearing..

Could be a few things but if ur changing ur suspension on Wed that would be a great chance to troubleshoot it properly..

If youve got the Whiteline swaybar on the front it dosent take long for the factory end links to pack it in. Thats my experience, my Whiteline bar was fitted about 4 weeks ago and the endlinks are now getting the rattles. Whiteline do an end link kit to suit the bar, which is my next option. Hope this helps. Adrian.

I think you'll find that the end links are just loose, very common problem after installing a new front bar. Also unless whiteline have changed the design of their endlinks from the spherical ball I would stay away from them if you want rattle free driving because they are/were renowned for rattling within a relatively short period of time.

+1 I looked for a very long time for an endlink design that does not rattle or fall apart quickly. The one I settled on:

http://www.rallitek.com/RalliTEK-HD-Fro ... nks/p-4269. Changing from stock endlinks to these, gave a noticeable increase in stiffness. (Rear whiteline bar, stock front bar).

Harry - I had a rattle in the front left. Mine was a little different to everyone else diagnosis though.

I took it to 3 different subi dealers... Ended up being a front strut needed replacing. (Under warranty than god!).

That was before I had the Teins fitted of course... :D

I hope it is a strut cause I wouldn't have to spend any money on it. The Teins are going on Wednesday.

Just say it Harry, even if it was something else you'd rather upgrade it than replace same for same ;)

is it's speed/frequency speed or angle dependant?

noise is angle dependant at very slow speed.
