H&R's vs OEM

Postby mihai » Tue Jul 13, 2010 7:07 pm

Hey all,

Picked up a set of brand new H&R's off ebay last Friday, should hopefully be getting them installed on Sunday.

Just wanted to know if anyone had made the swap from OEM springs to H&R's? What was the ride like afterwards?

Also, does anyone know the spring rates of OEM and H&R's?

Thanks.

if they're brand new it's likely that the spring rate will be printed on them

They were a damn good price! And you did recommend a progressive spring, which they are :D

They should be OK if the spring rate is not too high then! Since they are progressive they won't have a single spring rate mind you.

This is what they say on LGT for stock springs:

Rate F, R (kg/mm)

Stock - 3.5, 5.5
STI Pinks - 4, 6
Progress - 3.5, 5.8
Swift - 4.25, 6.6
Ion - 4.0-5.2, 6.7

Thanks for the reply Jim.

Hopefully the ride quality wont be too harsh.

Naw. H&R are a very premium brand that will give your car an aggressive appearance without the harsh ride. If anything the ride will be more settled and stable. Perhaps even better than OEM.

Michael.

I have H&R's in our wagon and I find the ride excellent (sporty but not uncomfortable) and the stance perfect.

Interested to see what you think of them once they're installed.

Cheers.
